Page boldly signed “Walt Disney” in fountain pen ink and datelined “Oxford, England, June 16 1935.” Mickey Mouse sketched in classic profile a mere seven years after the character’s 1928 “Steamboat Willie” debut and while Disney himself still voiced the famed Mouse; (sound effects man, James G. MacDonald took over the role in 1946). Paper, measuring 7″ x 4.5″, includes four additional signatures not obstructing Disney autograph or sketch. Walt Disney Signed Drawing of Mickey Mouse — Sketched Within a First Edition Copy of “The Art of Walt Disney

Scarce illustration of Mickey Mouse, drawn and signed by Walt Disney inside a first edition copy of “The Art of Walt Disney”. The commemorative book, published by Macmillan: New York: 1942 features a beautiful illustration of a smiling Mickey Mouse to the front free endpaper, hand-drawn in blue crayon by Walt Disney. Handwritten note reads: “To Mick Olson / From One ‘M’ to Another! Best Wishes From Walt Disney”. Hardcover first edition has tan cloth boards with orange black lettering to the cover, and illustrations throughout. Written by Robert D. Feild, who gives a wonderful narrative and pictorial history of Disney’s legendary career. Measures 8.5″ x 11.5″ and runs 290pp. Very slight cocking to the spine, and light toning. Small stain to top of front cover. A nice Walt Disney autograph with sketch.  Very good.  Sold for $15,125.

Walt Disney Autograph and a Mickey Mouse Sketch

Extraordinary Walt Disney signed and inscribed sketch. With additional signed sketches by several of Disney’s top artists. Disney sketches his famed Mouse and inscribes, “To John Adrian / Hoping he will be able to draw better than this / Walt Disney.” A truly rare piece created while Disney and 15 of his studio staff traveled on a goodwill movie making tour to South America at the urging of the U.S. Government; the result of which was the war-time release of the cartoons “Saludos Amigos” and The Three Caballeros.” At the end of the tour, on a 17 day voyage home, Disney met a young John Adrian and provided him with this extraordinary piece. Additionally signed by artists: Tead Sears (Goofy), Jim Bodero (Bacchus), Webb Smithy (J. Thaddeus Toad), Norm Ferguson (Pluto), and Frank Thomas (Donald Duck). Composer Charles Wolcott adds music and lyrics from ‘The Reluctant Dragon,” and business manager, John Rose, also pens his name. Walt Disney Signed ”Bambi” Cel on Original Production Background, Personally Inscribed to Norman Rockwell

Walt Disney signed display of Bambi and Thumper cels, uniquely inscribed to fellow American icon Norman Rockwell, and on an original production background also used in the movie. Disney signs the mat in green wax crayon, ”To Norman / With Best Wishes / Walt”. Large display includes cels of Bambi, Thumper, two quail birds, grass and log, used in the 1942 classic film ”Bambi”, with the hand-painted background measuring approximately 11” x 9”, framed to a size of 19.375” x 17.5”. With ”Original WDP [Walt Disney Productions]” stamp above Disney’s signature. Some foxing and light discoloration to outer portion of mat. Cels remain in beautifully well-preserved condition, with only one hairline crack appearing on Bambi’s leg. With an LOA from Carl Sprague of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Norman Rockwell’s town, whose wife Susan Merrill was previously marred to Jarvis Rockwell, Norman Rockwell’s son. Sold for $13,401.

Walt Disney Autograph on His Personal 1933 Christmas Card

1933 “Season’s Greetings” document signed card from Walt Disney to friends in Kansas City. Signed and inscribed, “Hope this finds the Cottinghams in the same high spirits as when I last saw them. Regards, Walter.” Card features a snowy holiday scene of Mickey Mouse and gang being pulled in a carriage by a cow with deer antlers strapped atop his head. Sticker of Mickey Mouse holding a Christmas tree that reads “Merry Christmas” stuck to bottom half of card above text, “Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse present their Silly Symphony ‘Season’s Greetings.'” Mickey Mouse sticker copyrighted by “Walt Disney Enterprises / Hall Brothers Inc.” It was around this time that Disney signed an agreement with Hall Brothers cards, now known as Hallmark, for use of Disney characters in their line of greeting cards, making this sticker one of the first from Hall Brothers Inc. A rare, vintage Walt Disney autograph.  Card measures 8.75″ x 4.75″. Creasing, wear and small tears along edges as well as along center fold, otherwise excellent condition. Sold for $12,500.

Walt Disney Hand-Drawn Sketch of Donald Duck, Signed by Disney — With Phil Sears COA for Both Signature & Drawing

Rare, large Walt Disney signed sketch of Donald Duck, who Disney created in the early 1930s as a friend to Mickey Mouse. Composed in pencil, Disney signs ”Walt Disney” below the large drawing, showing Donald smiling with his characteristic sailor hat. Drawing is double-matted, with visible portion measuring approximately 5.5” x 8.5”. Entire presentation measures 13” x 17”. Some folds and creasing, overall in very good condition. Fantastic Walt Disney Letter Signed From 1938 Regarding Neely Anti-Trust Legislation — “…If we had known before entering into the production of ‘SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS’…hazardous venture…”

Very rare Walt Disney letter signed regarding the proposed “Anti-Block Booking and Blind Selling Bill”, anti-trust legislation in the U.S. Congress that rocked Hollywood during the 1930s, so important to the movie industry that stars such as Shirley Temple were dispatched to Capitol Hill to testify against it. Composed on colorful “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” letterhead, Disney writes this three-page letter on 11 April 1938 to Senator Tom Connally, methodically explaining how such legislation would not only negatively impact Disney’s “Mickey Mouse” short films, but also prevent it from making features such as “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, which had premiered only four months earlier. Exceptional letter measures 8.5″ x 10″ on three separate sheets of Walt Disney Productions, Ltd. letterhead. Folds, original staple at upper left and some foxing, but overall in very good condition, an important letter in the history of motion pictures. Sold for $8,125.

Exceptional Walt Disney Autograph on His Vintage 1933 Photo

A young Walt Disney signed Acme Newspictures official photo, dated 21 February 1933 on verso. Photo depicts the legendary animator working at his desk and wearing a turtleneck sweater. At the time of the photo, Disney had already received an Academy Award for his creation of “Mickey Mouse” but was still five years away from his first full-length feature, “Snow White.” Signed “Sincerely Walt Disney”, black and white photo measures 8″ x 6″, with thinning from mounting at top and bottom, edge wear, minor scratches and a small tear at bottom that has been archivally repaired to become virtually invisible. Very good plus condition. One of the best examples of a Walt Disney autograph on a photo.  Sold for $7,866.

Fantastic Walt Disney Autograph on a Reproduction Cel of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”

Very rare Walt Disney signed reproduction cel from his animation classic “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.” Beautiful full “Walt Disney” signature, with a flourish, appears on the mat surrounding the illustration from “Snow White,” Disney’s exceptionally successful and groundbreaking film. Despite Hollywood snickering that “Snow White” would be “Disney’s folly” and bankrupt his studio, the prescient animator forged ahead to create the first-ever fully animated feature film. Three years into its making, when resources ran dry, he had to secure emergency funding by showing a rough cut of the film to bank executives. When it finally premiered in December 1937, Disney silenced his critics through the audience’s reaction, which gave the film a standing ovation and singularly ushered in the Golden Age of Animation. This reproduction cel, though not original, is an early rendering, circa 1940’s and measures 10″ x 8″. Cream-colored mat measures 16.75″ x 15.75″. In very good condition, with light creasing to the mat.  Rare to find a Walt Disney autograph on a Snow White cel.  Sold for $6,500.

Walt Disney Signed Donald Duck Cel, for ”Der Fuehrer’s Face”

Walt Disney signed cel of Donald Duck from ”Der Fuehrer’s Face”, the anti-German short made in 1943 to promote the U.S. war effort. Signed by Disney without inscription in brown wax crayon underneath cel, ”Walt Disney”. Cel was used in the marketing of the short, showing Donald Duck comically shouting into a phone, on an air-brushed background. Image measures 8.5” x 7.5” in frame measuring 15.5” x 15.125”. With Walt Disney Productions label on verso. Cel was given to film critic Merle Potter, and then by descent to his family. Sold for $6,406.

Walt Disney Signed ”Bambi” Cel — Featuring Bambi and Thumper, Along With Thumper’s Four Bunnies

Walt Disney signed ”Bambi” cel, used in the 1942 classic film and with a hand-painted set-up of the forest. In this cel entitled ”Bambi and Thumper”, Bambi meets Thumper’s four bunny children. Boldly signed ”Walt Disney” in green wax crayon on the mat, matching the color in the set-up. ”Original WDP [Walt Disney Productions]” stamp appears above Disney’s signature. Cel measures 10.75” x 7.75”, in original frame measuring 15.75” x 12.75”. Some flaking to celluloid and light toning to mat. Overall in very good condition. Paper has been removed from back of frame, so it’s unknown whether this is a Courvoisier piece. From the estate of Chic Young. A very unique ”Bambi” cel, as signed by Disney. Sold for $6,250.

Fantastic Copy of ”Fantasia” Signed by Walt Disney — Beautiful, Oversized Book Signed by the Preeminent Animator — With Various Personalized Illustrations & Art By Disney Illustrators

Scarce Walt Disney signed copy of his animated masterpiece, ”Walt Disney’s Fantasia” by Deems Taylor. With an introduction by Disney and a foreword by Leopold Stokowski, conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra who scored the motion picture. Simon and Schuster: New York: 1940. First edition. Book has ”Danny Moyer” written to cover and is signed by various Disney members inscribing notes to Moyer, including Disney himself who signs title page, ”To Danny Moyer / With Best Wishes / Walt Disney” in his iconic handwriting. Book has 20+ incredible personalized illustrations throughout, presumably by various Disney illustrators who additionally write personal notes to Moyer wishing him good luck in his next endeavor. Illustrated book contains a wealth of background information on the groundbreaking animated classic, including blurbs about the pieces of music performed for it. 158pp. are bound in putty color cloth boards with blue print lettering, measuring 9.5” x 13”. A rare Walt Disney autograph when it is accompanied by his key illustrators.  Some foxing, toning and wear throughout, and splitting along spine. Mickey Mouse Print Signed by Walt Disney — With PSA/DNA COA

Walt Disney’s unique signature appears on the mat board surrounding a print of his most famous character, Mickey Mouse. Disney’s dedication reads: ”To Carlos Lopez / all best wishes / Walt Disney”. The print shows a grinning Mickey leaning on the credenza in his office. Created by Walt Disney and his colleague Ub Iwerks in 1928, Mickey Mouse was originally more of a lovable mischief-maker, and traces of this first incarnation are detectable here. Housed in a cream-colored wooden frame with cream and blue matting. Print measures 7.5” x 10” and mat measures 13.25” x 17”. Framed to a size of 19” x 24”. In near fine condition, with light creasing to mat. Walt Disney autograph on the print accompanied by a PSA/DNA COA.  Sold for $5,027.

Walt Disney Signed Cel from the 1942 Short ”How to Play Baseball” — Lot Also Includes Cel from ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”

Walt Disney signed cel of Goofy from the 1942 Disney short film, ”How to Play Baseball”, as well as a cel of Bashful from ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. Disney signs the ”Baseball” cel in teal crayon on the mat, ”To Tom / from / Walt Disney”. Disney mat bears ”original WDP” stamp, and pencil inscription identifying film. Cel and background measures 7” x 7.5”, with Disney mat measuring 14.5” x 14”, all framed to a size of 22” x 21.5”. Cel is in fair condition with several areas of paint loss, but still intact. Mat has some toning, pinholes and foxing, overall in good to very good condition. Second cel is of Bashful from ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, the first Disney film released in 1937 to critical and popular acclaim. Cel and background measures 4.5” x 5.75”, framed to 10.75” x 12.75”. With label from J.J. Gillespie Gallery, stating that the cel was used in the production of the movie. Cel remains in very good to near fine condition. Sold for $4,813.

Walt Disney signed studio mat holding a dye transfer print of ”Alice in Wonderland”. Disney’s large signature and paraph measures approximately 6.5” x 2.5”, signed upon the cream-colored studio mat in pencil. Lustrous dye transfer prints were sold at The Art Corner Store in Disneyland, and also given out as gifts, though ones signed by Disney are rare. Mat measures approximately 17” x 13.5”, framed to 22” x 18.25”. Minor toning to mat, else near fine condition. Sold for $4,659.

Disney’s large signature and paraph measure approximately 6.75” x 2”, signed upon the cream-colored studio mat in red pencil. Print measures 11.5” x 9.25”, and mat measures 16” x 15”. Print has some moisture spotting. Light soiling to mat, uniform toning, and bends and chipping to edges. Pinhole at top center. Very good condition. Sold for $4,576.

Walt Disney ”Pinocchio” Book Signed — With The Signatures of More Than 20 Early Disney Animators

Walt Disney signed ”Pinocchio”, published by Random House: New York: 1939. Hardcover volume is inscribed upon the copyright page in giant bold letters in Disney’s distinctive hand, ”To Al / Best / Wishes / Walt Disney”. A small note appears to the upper right, ”To Al Parke” in an unknown hand, and 1940 has been lightly written at the bottom of the page. Unpaginated children’s story book is illustrated in both color and black and white, and is signed throughout by more than 20 early Disney animators. Bound in pictorial paper boards with blue cloth spine and pictorial endpapers. Measures 8.5” x 11.5”. Ever so slight toning to leaves, cocking to spine and wear to the bottom edges of boards. Near fine.  Sold for $3,438.

Fantastic Copy of “Fantasia” With a Walt Disney Autograph — Beautiful, Oversized Book Signed by the Preeminent Animator

This book version of Disney’s “Fantasia” is illustrated throughout with a magnificent gallery of color plates and monochrome vignettes. In publisher’s cream cloth boards with blue lettering and illustrated endpapers. Two small areas of discoloration along top edge of rear board, and front board slightly loose. Price-clipped dustjacket has chipping and rubbing along edges, mostly at spine ends and along flap folds, and adhesive stains to verso. Book, in a blue cloth slipcase, is in near fine condition and the dustjacket is in very good condition. Overall a beautiful, presentable copy of a title rarely encountered signed.  Sold for $3,336.

Walt Disney Signed Reproduction Cel of ”Lady and the Tramp” — With Phil Sears COA

Rare Walt Disney signed reproduction cel from the 1955 classic ”Lady and the Tramp.” Beautiful full ”Walt Disney” signature, with a flourish, appears on the mat surrounding the illustration from ”Lady,” showing the title characters along with Trusty the bloodhound and Jock the Scottish terrier. One of Disney’s most popular and successful movies, ”Lady and the Tramp” surpassed all other Disney movies at the box office when it was released in 1955 except for the classic ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.” This reproduction cel is part of a limited edition and measures 10” x 8”. Cream-colored mat measures 16.75” x 15.75”. In very good condition, with light uniform toning and light foxing to the mat. Large, bold signature is prominent in the display. “The Art of Walt Disney” by Robert D. Feild — Signed Rare Book by Walt Disney & Robert D. Feild — 1947 — A Superb Example of a Walt Disney Autograph

Walt Disney signed copy of “The Art of Walt Disney” by Robert D. Feild. Collins: London and Glasgow: 1947. Blue ink inscription to title page reads, “To Milton Spark / Best Wishes / Walt Disney.” Additionally signed by the author, “With the authors best wishes / Robert Feild” to front free endpaper. A fascinating volume, “this book describes how things happed in the Disney Studio – how Walt Disney himself acts as inspiration and co-ordinating spirit for all the several hundred artists and production men and women who work with him. An inside picture is given of the conditions under which these people work, the problems they face and the many different stages through which the idea and drawing must pass before taking its part in the final production.” Milton Spark, to whom the book is inscribed, was likely the actor in the 1960’s who appeared in the “Batman” television show. Walt Disney Signed Menu From the Disney Studio Restaurant — With Phil Sears COA

Walt Disney signed menu from the Disney Restaurant. The entertainment mogul signs his distinctive ”Walt Disney” in pencil, in very large script to the bottom edge of the menu’s front cover. Disney purchased 51 acres in Burbank following the breakout success of his first animated feature, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, in 1937. These grounds were the site where Disney classics were animated, shot and edited, including Fantasia, Bambi, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan; later Davy Crockett, Mary Poppins, Armageddon and Pirates of the Caribbean I, II & III. Cover features an illustration of Mickey in chef’s garb ringing a dinner bell as Goofy comes running. Print reads: ”Walt Disney’s / Studio Restaurant / Burbank, California”. Menu folds open to show the ”Snow White Special” and ”Stromboli’s Favorite Sandwich,” with period pricing of 20 cents for a meal. Red printed illustrations of Disney characters decorate the interior. Program from the groundbreaking film ”Fantasia,” signed by its mastermind ”Walt Disney” in very large script on the lower portion of the front cover. In ”Fantasia,” Disney chose to omit dialogue from the animated feature in favor of famous classical music pieces composed by the greats. Authored by Robert Feild who, through this volume, was one of the first to recognize Walt Disney’s creations as true art. Macmillan Company: New York: 1942. Hardcover with dustjacket measures 8.5″ x 11.25″ and runs 290 pages. In very good condition, with mirroring of portion of signature and inscription on title page (as well as a small tear to the bottom of the title page), ownership sticker to front pastedown, a small edge tear and light creasing to signed page, and scattered light toning and soiling to covers and spine. Dustjacket exhibits light uniform toning, as well as a small area of paper loss, and scattered creasing to both front and back. Signature by Walt Disney is quite bold and large. Walt Disney Autograph on a “Little Hiawatha” Animation Cel — With Phil Sears COA

Walt Disney signed “Little Hiawatha” animation cel. The Technicolor animated cartoon, produced in 1937, was one of Disney’s popular “Silly Symphonies” series released between 1929 and 1939. The 5.5″ x 6″ cell, labeled “Little Hiawatha”, is inscribed, “With Best Wishes / Walt Disney”. Disney animators Dick Huemer, Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston and Charles Thorson worked on “Little Hiawatha”. Near fine condition. Accompanied by a COA from Disney autograph expert Phil Sears certifying that the Walt Disney autograph is genuine.  Sold for $2,731.

Walt Disney signed and inscribed 11″ x 14″ matte finish photo. Image shows Disney in jacket and tie posing casually in an arm chair. Inscribed in black ink, “To Howard & Elsie / With Best Wishes / Walt Disney.” Minor wear and creasing to edges and corners, otherwise near fine condition. Scarce Vintage Walt Disney Autograph & Inscription on a 8″ x 10″ Matte-Finish Photo

Very rare Walt Disney signed black and white photo, circa 1940. Upon the photo, Disney inscribes in a blue fountain pen, “To Betty Anne / With All My Best Wishes / Walt Disney.” 8″ x 10″ matte-finish image shows Disney holding what appears to be a storyboard of the dwarfs from “Snow White,” released in 1937. Photo has chipping at corners from mounting, light spotting on Disney’s face and a slightly smeared signature. Overall a very attractive photo of Disney in his prime, in very good condition. Accompanied by a COA from Disney autograph expert Phil Sears certifying that the Walt Disney autograph is genuine.  Sold for $2,533.

Check signed by Walt Disney, dated 10 April 1957 and made payable to the “District Director Internal Revenue” in the amount of $370.25. Disney signs “Walter E. Disney” in bright blue marker with his typical flourish. Standard bank cancellations slightly affecting, but not distracting to signature. Very good condition and a very dark Walt Disney autograph.  Sold for $2,447.

Walt Disney Signed Copy of ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”

Walt Disney signed copy of ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”, signed in blue crayon and taking up nearly the full page of the front free endpaper. Grosset & Dunlap: New York: 1938. This edition came on the heels of the 1937 film, which overcame all odds to be the most successful film of the year and garnered Disney one full and seven miniature Oscars. Hardcover measures 9” x 7.5” and runs 40pp. Cocking to spine and separation of pages starting at joint. Good to very good condition.  A very dark Walt Disney autograph.  Sold for $2,290.

Walt Disney Signed ”Fantasia” Soundtrack — With PSA/DNA COA

Walt Disney autograph appears on the first page of the integral booklet that accompanies the soundtrack to Walt Disney Productions’ animated feature, ”Fantasia.” Disney renders the inscription in blue wax pen, ”To Paul / with best wishes / Walt Disney”. Disney omitted dialogue from ”Fantasia” in favor of classical music conducted by Leopold Stokowski and performed by The Philadelphia Orchestra. The feature broke ground as the first commercial film to debut stereo sound. Partial separation to front cover, a small ding to back cover, and some light surface loss and rubbing to spine. Very good to near fine. Three vinyl records are included. An extraordinary item signed by its legendary creator. Bold Walt Disney autograph. Walt Disney autograph on a first edition of ”The Gremlins”, published by Random House: New York: 1943. Disney signs with his typical flourish to the front free endpaper, ”To Joan / With Best Wishes / Walt Disney”. Written by Roald Dahl during WWII so as to boost morale among British children, the story follows a ragtag group of heroic characters named ”Gremlins”. Hardcover first edition is bound in red boards with yellow and red illustrations of aerial scenes on cover and pastedowns. Measures 9” x 11.5” and runs 51pp. Book does not have the scarce dustjacket. Some shelf wear to boards, overall very good condition. With a COA from Phil Sears attesting that the Walt Disney autograph is authentic.  Sold for $2,081.

Walt Disney autograph on a vintage photo. His autograph inscription reads: ”To Bill Branch, with my best wishes, Walt Disney”. In this unusual photo, Disney’s gaucho costuming alludes to his efforts as a goodwill ambassador to South America in 1941 as part of the ”Good Neighbor Policy.” With a party of twenty from his studio, Disney toured Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Peru to deter communist sentiment, upon the U.S. State Department’s request. His experiences there inspired his 1942 feature, ”Saludos Amigos,” which itself inspired 1944’s ”The Three Caballeros.” Measures 9” x 7”. Matte-finish photo is matted and framed to an overall size of 14.25” x 12.25”. Near fine. With PSA/DNA COA attesting that the Walt Disney autograph is authentic.  Sold for $2,063.

The Academy Award nominated film was based on a book by Felix Salten. Partial separation to front hinge of 8.5″ x 7″ book with original dustjacket; light toning and soiling. Very good condition. Walt Disney Autograph on a Typed Letter — Disney Writes a Playful Letter About a Little Machine That “…adds, subtracts and multiplies…”

Very rare Walt Disney typed letter signed upon his personal stationery. Dated 30 May 1959 and addressed to a Norma Knabe, letter reads in part, “…Dear Norma and Ken – This is just a little gift to help Ken in figuring his jobs — it adds, subtracts and multiplies, and it only takes a few minutes to learn how to operate this little machine…Sincerely, Walt Disney.” Letter measures 7.25″ x 10″. In very good condition with usual folds and a barely perceptible trimmed lower edge. Signature in ball-point ink is quite large and dark.  A dark Walt Disney autograph.  Sold for $1,311.
