London 2012 Olympics Torch & Tracksuit Used in 2012 London Summer Games
2012 Olympics torch used for a relay and 2 piece track suit. The Torch Relay tradition began in 1928, and transports a spark from the parent flame in Olympia, Greece to the host city in time for the opening ceremonies. Designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby, the torch is made of aluminum alloy skin, perforated by 8,000 circles to represent the 8,000 torchbearers who carried the flame. The triangular shape of the torch represents the 3 Olympic values (respect, excellence and friendship), the elements of the Olympic motto (faster, higher and stronger) and the amount of times the U.K. has hosted (1908, 1948 and 2012). Comes with official carrying case. Torch measures 80 cm or 30.5″, and weighs 990 g (without fuel canister). 2 piece tracksuit includes white shirt and white pants. Both have gold trim and gold “LONDON 2012” logo with Olympic rings. Made of polyester, size medium. Some wear/discoloration to suit from use, otherwise very good condition. 2012 Olympics torch is in near fine condition. Sold for $3,442.
