It was late in the evening of January 26th, 1986, when the creme de la creme of the music industry left the American Music Awards to head over to A&M Studios in Hollywood for an all night recording session of a song written to raise money for famine victims in Ethiopia, We are the World.

With the release of the famous song, “We Are The World,” the charity “USA For Africa” raised over 60 million dollars and the song became one of the best-selling singles of all time. The song still comes to define the 80’s and serves as proof that art can help in times of crisis.

The large poster is signed by Harry Belafonte as co-creator of the project and by performers Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Dionne Warwick, Bruce Springsteen, Diana Ross, Kenny Rogers, Smokey Robinson, Lionel Richie, Ruth Pointer, Anita Pointer, Steve Perry, Jeffrey Osborne, John Oates, Huey Lewis, Quincy Jones, Billy Joel, Marlon Jackson, La Toya Jackson, Daryl Hall, Sheila E., Johnny Colla, Kim Carnes, Lindsey Buckingham and Dan Aykroyd. It comes from the personal collection of Ken Kragen, co-creator of the “We Are The World” project.
