The medal features the FIFA logo to obverse and ”World Championship / Jules Rimet Cup / England 1966” to reverse. Stamped HF 0.750. Originally, winner’s medals were only bestowed upon the 11 starters, but medals for the rest of the squad such as this one were issued later.

Only the 11 winning players were originally awarded medals but in 2009 FIFA bowed to a long-running campaign and made 14 additional medals available for each winning World Cup team from 1930 to 1970.

Harold’s widow Peggy and daughter Linda were presented with the medal in June 2009 and met then Prime Minister Gordon Brown before attending an England game along with members of the ’66 squad.
