Willie Mays Love Letter 1951 Autograph Letter Signed

Willie Mays signed autograph letter accompanied by holographic cover dated 25 September 1951. Letter composed a mere few months after Mays made his 25 May 1951 debut in the New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Phillies at Shibe Park. Letter reads in full, “Willie May / New York Giants / Palo Grounds / Hy Sweet, I know I should be write you this letter because you did me bad when I was their. But I said to my self that you look to be a very sweet girl. So I thought I would drop you a few line. I don’t know it you are really sweet because the little time I saw you at the school wasn’t any thing. But it you won’t to write me doing the off season it will be OK with me. This is my address at home. 216-57 Stuell Fairfield Alabama. I won’t be leaving New York until the 11 are next. I won’t be at home until the 21 are next so are back here. With Love Willie Mays (signed).” Accompanying cover addressed to: “Miss Gladys Cafield / 3407 Hickory Street / St. Louis, MO” with Mays’ return address, “Willie Mays / New York Giants / Palo Grounds, N.Y.” Black ink letter, measuring 5″ x 6.5″, runs 2pp. Stray stains and mild overall toning, otherwise in fine condition. A scarce and unique Willie Mays signed letter with nice autograph. Sold for $2,695.
