Steiner Walter Payton Signed Helmet Sold
Walter Payton is considered by many to be the greatest running back in NFL history. He had a 13 year career playing for the Chicago Bears and garnered several awards including Super Bowl XX Champion, Man of the Year 1977, AP NFL Most Valuable Player 1977 and NFL Offensive Player of the Year 1977 among others. He sadly passed away in 1999 at the age of 45 due to bile duct cancer. The NFL Man of the Year award was changed to the Walter Payton Man of the Year award to honor his life and charitable causes. Walter Payton and his wife established the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation which strives to spread awareness on organ donation and serve underprivileged communities.

During the running back’s high profile career in the 1970’s, Payton broke league records for rushing yards, touchdowns, carries, yards from scrimmage, and all-purpose yards, among others. His untimely death at age 45 broke the hearts of fans and those who knew him personally alike; friends and colleagues spoke highly of his character as well as his athleticism.
