Walt Disney Signed “Little Hiawatha” Animation Cel — With Phil Sears COA
Walt Disney signed “Little Hiawatha” animation cel. The Technicolor animated cartoon, produced in 1937, was one of Disney’s popular “Silly Symphonies” series released between 1929 and 1939. The 5.5″ x 6″ cell, labeled “Little Hiawatha”, is inscribed, “With Best Wishes / Walt Disney”. Disney animators Dick Huemer, Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston and Charles Thorson worked on “Little Hiawatha”. Near fine condition. Accompanied by a COA from Phil Sears, noted Disney expert. Sold for $2,731.

Ray Bradbury’s personally owned ”Alice in Wonderland” Disney animation cel. Art from the classic 1951 film features a wide-eyed Alice encountering the living pair of eyeglasses. Hand-painted characters are cut out precisely and mounted to an illustrated background. Alice measures 4.5” x 5.25”. Glasses measure 5.5” x 4”. Background measures 13” x 11”, matted to an overall size of 19” x 18”. Toning to mat and a small smudge to Alice’s cheek, else near fine. With Disney COA stamp to right corner and Disney COA sticker to verso. With a COA from the Ray Bradbury estate. Sold for $8,319.
Walt Disney signed animation cels of Donald Duck and José Carioca, used in Disney’s 1942 classic ”Saludos Amigos”, the sixth Disney animated feature film and the first produced by Walt Disney Productions. Large cels of Donald Duck and José Carioca are from the ”Aquarela do Brasil” segment of the film, where Carioca shows his friend Donald around South America and introduces him to the samba, which he plays here on his makeshift umbrella. The film also marks the first appearance of José Carioca. Two cels each measure approximately 2.75” x 4.5” on background measuring 7.5” by 7”, and mat measuring 14” x 15” upon which Disney signs, ”To Joe / With Best / Wishes / Walt Disney”. With Courvoisier Galleries sticker affixed to backing certifying that the cels were used in the filming of ”Saludos Amigos”. Walt Disney Productions stamp appears on mat, above Disney’s signature, reading ”original / WDP”. Light uniform toning to mat. Cels have some cracking and lifting, but remain attractive. Disney’s signature, in large green crayon, is bold and near fine. Overall in very good condition. With a COA from Phil Sears. A rare, special Disney signed production cel from of the earliest Disney animated films. Sold for $4,250.
Walt Disney signed reproduction cel from his animation classic ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs”. Disney’s large signature – measuring approximately 6.25” x 3” with a flourish, appears on the mat underneath the illustration from ”Snow White”, Disney’s groundbreaking film that ushered in the Golden Age of Animation. With Walt Disney Productions label on verso and ”Walt Disney’s Snow White” handwritten in cursive on mat under image. Mat measures 16” x 14.5”. Light toning and chipping to edges, overall very good plus condition. Sold for $4,125.
Original Disney Cel From the Academy Award-Winning 1938 Disney Short “Ferdinand the Bull” — Featuring Ferdinand in the Opening Scene, Famously Smelling Flowers
Original animation cel from Disney’s 1938 short “Ferdinand the Bull”, featuring Ferdinand as a young calf in the opening scene of the film. A beloved Christmas film about a bull that refuses to fight, “Ferdinand the Bull” won the Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film in 1938. Disney label on verso of frame reads “This is an original painting on celluloid, actually used in the Walt Disney Production of Ferdinand the Bull…Copyright 1938…Walt Disney Productions”. Visible portion of artwork measures 8.25″ square. Not examined out of frame, but appears in very good condition with no significant cracking to celluloid. Sold for $2,100.
