Walter Cunningham Signed Apollo 7 Command Service Module Model
Ronnie Walter Cunningham (born March 16, 1932), (Col, USMCR, Ret.) is a retired American astronaut. In 1968, he was a Lunar Module Pilot on the Apollo 7 mission. He was NASA’s third civilian astronaut (after Neil Armstrong and Elliot See), and has also been a fighter pilot, physicist, entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and author of The All-American Boys. Following the deaths of Donn F. Eisele in 1987 and Wally Schirra in 2007, Cunningham is the last surviving crew member of Apollo 7.
Apollo 7 was an October 1968 space mission carried out by the United States. It was the first crewed flight in NASA’s Apollo program, and saw the resumption of human spaceflight by the agency after the fire that killed the three Apollo 1 astronauts in January 1967. The Apollo 7 crew was commanded by Walter M. Schirra, with command module pilot Donn F. Eisele and lunar module pilot R. Walter Cunningham (so designated even though Apollo 7 did not carry a lunar module).
Astronaut Walt Cunningham signed model for the Apollo 7 Command and Service module, which successfully orbited the first 3-man crew of the Apollo space program. Signed “Walt Cunningham / APOLLO 7″ in fine black felt-tip on the body of the model, a 1:72 scale diecast replica of the CSM. With stand, model measures approximately 6″ x 2.875″ x 6” high. Near fine condition. Sold for $1,760.
