Here is a Thomas Wolfe signed book we have sold in the past:
Thomas Wolfe Signed 1st Printing 1st Edition
Thomas Wolfe signed first printing, first edition of his first novel and masterpiece, “Look Homeward, Angel”. New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons, 1929. Wolfe signs the front free endpaper in the year of publication, “To a well-wisher / Thomas Wolfe / Oct 30, 1929”. With first printing points present: “greek” rather than “Greek” on page 308, line 26, and “staioned” rather than “stationed” on page 506, line 23.
A literary high point of 20th century fiction, the New York Times Book Review wrote of “Look Homeward, Angel” on 27 October 1929, just a few days before Wolfe’s inscription, “Here is a novel of the sort one is too seldom privileged to welcome. It is a book of great drive and vigor, of profound originality, of rich and variant color…Mr. Wolfe has a great gift-the ability to find in simple events and in humble, unpromising lives the whole meaning and poetry of human existence.” Octavo book measuring 5.5″ x 7.75″ remains in attractive condition with bright gilt lettering upon navy blue boards. Light shelf wear, particular to spine edges and corners. Overall in very good plus condition. Sold for $1,250.
