Large Theodore Roosevelt Photo Display Signed as President — Image Alone Measures 13.75” x 16.25”
Theodore Roosevelt large photo display signed as President. Photo of a seated Roosevelt looking relaxed and pensive is mounted to a mat inscribed, ”To F.L. Dunlap with high appreciation of the public service he has rendered, with the warm good wishes of Theodore Roosevelt / Feb 25th 1909”. Black and white photograph itself measures 13.75” x 16.25”. Matted and framed nicely to an overall size of 25.5” x 30.5”. Chip to lower right corner of the photo, toning to mat and a small tear to the mat running vertically through the inscription not affecting the signature. Dr. F.L. Dunlap was the father of WWII Rear Admiral Stanton Baldwin Dunlap. Frame is likely original. Sold for $1,563.
Theodore Roosevelt Autograph as President; Theodore Roosevelt Autograph in Copy of His Complete Works — 15 Volumes
“The Complete Works of Theodore Roosevelt” executive edition with Theodore Roosevelt autograph as President, published by P.F. Collier & Son: New York: 1899. The front free endpaper of the first volume bears the President’s autograph dedication, “With good wishes of / Theodore Roosevelt / Nov 7th 1904”. Complete 15-volume set comprises volumes titled in part, “American Ideals”, “The Wilderness Hunter”, “Hunting the Grisly and Other Sketches”, “The Winning of the West”, “The Naval War of 1812”, “The Rough Riders” and “Addresses and State Papers”. Bound in navy blue cloth boards with contrasting print lettering to spines. Each volume measures 5.75″ x 8″. Volumes show a great deal of loss to the print lettering on the spine as typical of this set. Light surface loss to exterior edges and toning to page edges. The volume “Presidential Addresses & State Papers” has a tear to its first page and signed first volume shows some light staining to boards, else lot is near fine overall. Sold for $5,093.
As President, Theodore Roosevelt signed copy of ”The London Company of Virginia”, published for the 300th anniversary of the Jamestown Colony, the first permanent English settlement in North America. President Roosevelt signs the front free endpaper, ”To Capt. S.A. Cheney with the best wishes of / Theodore Roosevelt / Feb 19th 1909”, likely inscribed to Major S.A. Cheney of the Corps of Engineers. Number 22 of a limited edition of 300, book includes 23 gorgeous photogravures, published by Devinne Press in 1908. Full leaf photogravures begin with Queen Elizabeth and include other prominent contributors to the formation of Jamestown including Sir Walter Raleigh, Sir Francis Drake, King James I of England, John Smith, and Pocahontas. Book measures 9” x 11.75”. Some foxing to gravures, otherwise interior is clean and near fine. Richly bound in one-half pebbled morocco leather, with the title and seal of Virginia in gilt on front. Front board is detached and small loss of leather to spine. Signature page has light foxing, otherwise near fine. Overall in very good condition. Sold for $3,750.

Theodore Roosevelt signed as President, “The Works of Theodore Roosevelt”. Single volume is dedicated on the front free endpaper by the President, “with good wishes from Theodore Roosevelt / Oct 1st 1905″. New York: P.F. Collier & Son, Publishers, 1885, bound in navy blue boards with gilt lettering and measuring 5.75″ x 8”. Ex-libris book has library markings, otherwise in very good condition with light shelf wear. Signature page is smudged on three words, but otherwise nicely preserved. With PSA/DNA COA. Sold for $1,811.

Harry Truman personally owned and worn Stetson hat. Open road style Stetson hat features Truman’s name printed inside the band. Beige hat is near fine. Provenance from Heritage Auctions. Sold for $28,734.
King George VI worn top hat. Plush silk top hat features print to the silk lining that features a Henry Heath Ltd. logo and reads, ”By Special Appointment / to His Majesty the King / Established in the reign of King George IV, 1822 / 105 to 109 Oxford St / London, W.”. Initials ”HRH” appear in gilt beneath. Accompanied by a photo of King George wearing the hat. Displayed in a mirror backed glass and wooden case upon a mahogany and cast iron stand, measuring 16” x 16” x 15”. Hat measures 5.75” in height. Wear to sweatband, else near fine. Sold for $27,500.
Winston Churchill’s Personally Owned and Worn Stetson Hat
Winston Churchill’s own Stetson worn by the Prime Minister during his tour of the United States in 1952. The John B. Stetson hat is 3X beaver. The interior hatband bears Churchill’s name in gilt lettering. Included in the lot is a DVD of Churchill donning the Stetson. Brown size 7 1/8 hat is in near fine condition.
