Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Ponte Palacios y Blanco (24 July 1783 – 17 December 1830) (Spanish: [siˈmom boˈliβaɾ] (listen), English: /ˈbɒlɪvər, -vɑːr/ BOL-iv-ər, -ar also US: /ˈboʊlɪvɑːr/ BOH-liv-ar), also colloquially as El Libertador, was a Venezuelan military and political leader who led what are currently the countries of Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Panama to independence from the Spanish Empire.
Simon Bolivar document signed, composed on his letterhead as President of the Republic of Colombia, his title after initial victories against the Spanish government in South America. Dated 20 February 1820 during continued fighting, Boliver writes to the Commander General of the Antioquia Province, ordering all available troops to march against the Province of Mompox. Boldly signed “Bolivar” at the conclusion. Two page document on a single sheet measures 6.75″ x 9″. Folds and uniform toning, otherwise near fine condition. Sold for $2,750.
