Scarce Sex Pistols Poster for Their Final Tour in the UK — Poster Full of Quotes by Venues Stating They’re Not Welcome

Poster promoting the Sex Pistols’ last shows in the UK: their ”Never Mind The Bans” tour. The poster’s designer Jamie Reid puts the punk band’s image to work, proudly displaying a collage of rejection letter clippings from venues that refused to host them. One reads: ”…The unfortunate reputation they have gained seems to bring in its wake inevitable scenes of violence and resulting damage…” Slated to play eight shows in the UK from 16-25 December 1977, the turmoil-laden band had to cancel half of them and would never play the UK again. Sid Vicious would die of a heroin overdose on 1 February 1979 at age 21. Very large poster measures 26” x 38”. Toning, creasing, and scattered tears to edges and separation at fold intersections. Titles put this sentiment in no uncertain terms: “The Artist (The Prostitute) / Your name could be here. Your talents will become a source / of unlimited cash for the Record / Company (The Pimp) / The Record Company (The Pimp) / The people who own this, own you. They will spend the cash you / generate on schemes to increase / their own power. You will get a / small percentage of what you earn. The Business (The Swindle) / Played by everyone including / the Record Company The manager / the Promoter the Press the Disc Jockey / and if you’re smart, you.” Measures 39.75″ x 27.75″. Prince concert-worn glove from his iconic ”Purple Rain” tour in 1984. A signature white lace glove adorned with rhinestones, Prince wore this glove during his performance on 15 December 1984 at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky before he tossed it into the audience. Glove is accompanied by a notarized letter from a contractor at Rupp Arena, who writes, ”…I was part of the set up and breakdown team – I’ve included my tax records to prove my employment at Rupp Arena…During the show Prince went up a twenty foot staircase to the scaffolding on the side of the stage while performing and took off and threw one of his gloves towards the audience. It didn’t reach the audience though – I watched the glove fall out of sight into the scaffolding below him. After the show, I kept an eye out for the glove as I was breaking down the lighting scaffolding in the area Prince threw it and sure enough, there it was…” As indicated in his letter, the consignor has included a copy of his 1099 record from 1985 showing his employment with IATSE Local 346 representing the Lexington area. The Famous ”Oliver Twist Manifesto” Poster for the Sex Pistols’ Last Ever Show in Britain — Single Sided Test Print Before Poster’s Final Issue

The Sex Pistols’ notorious ”Oliver Twist Manifesto” poster promoting their legendary Christmas Day 1977 concert at the Ivanhoe in Huddersfield. This was the last show the tragic punk band would ever play in Britain. The concert was put on to benefit working class children whose parents had been laid off. Sex Pistols’ manager Malcolm McLaren designed the poster, deriving its name from McLaren’s vision of the band as a rag tag group of disenfranchised orphan boys on the streets of England. This is one of the rare single-sided test prints before the poster’s final issue as a double-sided item. Measures 11.75” x 16.25”. Three horizontal folds run through illustration and text, causing a 1” tear along right edge of center fold. Three additional small chips and tears also affect right edge.
