Serena Williams’ Signed Tennis Racket From Wimbledon 2005 — The Racket That Williams Famously Smashed After Losing the First Set in the First Round Before Coming Back to Win the Match
The tennis racket used by Serena Williams at Wimbledon in 2005, famously smashed by Serena after losing the first set in the first round against her childhood friend Angela Haynes, before ultimately winning the match. Wilson tennis racket is also signed by Serena in red marker – visible on the inside of the throat of the racket, which she did on the court before gifting the racket to a fan. Making a comeback after being injured, Serena played at Wimbledon in 2005 after having reached the final in the previous three years, winning in 2002 and 2003 but losing in 2004. The hard fought contest to advance in the 2005 tournament is viscerally evident in this powerfully smashed racket. A fantastic tennis collectible by the woman who’s won more Grand Slam singles titles than any other in the Open era. Sold for $3,119.
