Rogers Hornsby Autograph Sold
Rogers Hornsby played Major League Baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals, New York Giants, Boston Braves, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Browns between the years of 1915 and 1937. Many reported that Hornsby was difficult to get along with which is one reason why he played for many teams during his career. Hornsby was a very dedicated player and avoided activities that could harm his eyesight needed for batting, such as reading books or watching movies. He also watched his diet and avoided smoking and drinking. With a batting average of .358, Hornsby is often regarded as one of the strongest baseball hitters of all time. He has been ranked as one of the best second basemen in baseball and fans voted him on the Major League Baseball All-Century Team in 1999.
