Roald Dahl Signed ”James and the Giant Peach” — Scarce
Children’s book author Roald Dahl signs his book ”James and the Giant Peach” published by Alfred A. Knopf: New York: 1961, 2nd printing. Illustrations by Nancy Ekholm Burkert. Dahl’s inscription reads: ”To Nigel Allsopp and the children of the splendid Everleigh Primary School. I loved my visit. Love, Roald Dahl. March 1976”. This dark and whimsical novel is about a boy, James, who lives inside the core of a monolithic piece of fruit and befriends the resident insects. Light staining to lower margin affecting five leaves. Overall in very good condition. Recently sold for $6,250 as lot 36240 in Heritage’s 5 October 2012 sale. Sold for $1,891.
