In early 2016, just one month before Prince died, we were contacted by one of Prince’s early managers who helped make him big, from 1970’s, in the Minnesota days — named Owen Husney.  He was nice enough to consign this Prince guitar to us.  The auction was eventually called off because Prince sued us.  After Prince’s death, a Prince guitar has been valued at over $100,000 – $700,000 if one of his famous electric guitars.  Here are the descriptions and pictures of the Prince guitar plus Prince with the guitar:

1959 Gibson Guitar Used by Prince to Compose & Record Early Demo Tracks — Prince Was Famously Photographed With the Favorite Guitar in Early Promotions

1959 vintage L-series Gibson 6-string acoustic guitar, used by the legendary artist Prince in the 1970s to sketch out and record early demos. The Gibson Acoustic Guitar has all original hardware except for tuning pegs (original tuning pegs available), and has 2 F-slots and a raised tortoise shell pickguard. Prince is seen holding the guitar in photos from 1977 taken at photographer Robert Whitman’s studio in Minneapolis, and at Owen Husney’s house, the man who discovered and formerly managed Prince (photos courtesy of Robert Whitman). Guitar comes housed in a black case with gray cushion lining. Normal wear with minor nicks and scratching to body, in very good condition. With an LOA from Owen Husney. Five percent of net proceeds on this item will go to the charity, Our House LA’s Camp Erin for Grieving Children.
