Sell Your Preston Sturges Signed Photo

Preston Sturges (born Edmund Preston Biden; August 29, 1898 – August 6, 1959) was an American playwright, screenwriter, and film director. In 1941, he won the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the film The Great McGinty, his first of three nominations in the category. Sturges took the screwball comedy format of the 1930s to another level, writing dialogue that, heard today, is often surprisingly naturalistic, mature, and ahead of its time, despite the farcical situations. It is not uncommon for a Sturges character to deliver an exquisitely turned phrase and take an elaborate pratfall within the same scene.

The Three Stooges signed agreement with Columbia Pictures, dated 17 July 1944, regarding a lay-off from producing shorts, with Curly’s signature, signing as ”Jerry Howard”. Also signed by ”Moe Howard” and ”Larry Fine” as well as the Vice-President of Columbia. Single page measures 8.5” x 11”. Near fine condition. Sold for $53,926.

The Three Stooges Signed Agreement With Columbia From 1944, Including Curly’s Signature

The Three Stooges signed agreement with Columbia Pictures, dated 7 December 1944, regarding a lay-off from producing shorts, with Curly’s signature, signing as ”Jerome Howard”. Also signed by ”Moe Howard” and ”Larry Fine” as well as Duncan Cassell of Columbia. Single page measures 8.5” x 11”. Near fine condition. Sold for $44,566.

”Uncivil Warriors” One-Sheet Movie Poster From 1935, Owned by Moe Howard

Very rare one-sheet movie poster for ”Uncivil Warriors”, one of the earliest and most beloved Three Stooges films, released in 1935. One-sheets from the 1930s are exceedingly rare, with this poster all the more special as owned by Moe Howard. Linen-backed poster measures 27” x 41”. Mild restoration at folds. Colors remain bright, with strong visual appeal, in near fine condition. Sold for $37,500.

The Three Stooges Signed Agreement With Columbia From 1945, Including Curly’s Signature — Regarding the Production of Shorts & a Feature Film

The Three Stooges signed agreement with Columbia Pictures, dated 25 May 1945, regarding the production of shorts and a feature film, with Curly’s signature, signing as ”Jerome Howard”. Also signed by ”Moe Howard” and ”Larry Fine” as well as Duncan Cassell of Columbia. Single page measures 8.5” x 11”. Abrasion at top and separation just starting at folds, overall very good condition with bold signatures. Sold for $30,438.

Scarce Three Stooges Agreement With Columbia From 1946 Signed by FOUR Stooges, Moe, Curly, Larry & Shemp — “Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Jerry Howard and Shemp Howard are employed as one (1) unit”

Scarce agreement signed by four Stooges: Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Jerry (Curly) Howard and Shemp Howard, dated 21 October 1946, shortly after Curly’s stroke which led to Shemp stepping in as one of the Stooges. Contract reads in part, “It is understood that Moe Howard, Larry Fine, Jerry Howard and Shemp Howard are employed as one (1) unit and the Corporation will not be able to utilize the services of any one party unless the Corporation is able to utilize the services of all said parties…Shemp Howard, during any period when he is not on layoff and is not on suspension and his services are not required…may render his services to others in feature motion pictures…” Countersigned by the Vice-President of Columbia Pictures. Two page contract on two sheets measures 8.5″ x 11″. Small amount of creasing and edgewear on second page, else near fine condition with bold signatures. Sold for $27,670.

Moe Howard Twice-Signed Passport

Moe Howard twice-signed passport from 1955. Howard signs ”Moe Howard” over a photo of him and and his wife Helen, as well as on page three, ”Moe Howard”. Passport is for Moe, but notes that he’s accompanied by his wife, ”Helen B.” Green passport has a crease on back cover, else near fine. Sold for $25,154.

Moe Howard’s Passport From 1939, Used for His Trip to the United Kingdom to Perform With The Three Stooges — Signed Six Times, as Both Moe Howard & “Moses Hurovitz”

Moe Howard’s passport, dated May 1939, with six signatures by him, including three signed “Moses Hurovitz”, which, interestingly, differs from his stated real name as Moses Horwitz. Passport is signed over his photo on page four, “Moses Hurovitz” and “Professionally known as Moe Howard”, as well as on page three where he again signs “Moses Hurovitz / Professionally known as Moe Howard”. He also fills out the first page with his address in Los Angeles, signing “Moses Hurovitz” and then signs again “Mrs. Moe Howard” as the emergency contact. Burgundy passport contains a handful of stamps, all from May and June 1939, when The Three Stooges performed across the British Isles. Near fine condition. Sold for $20,788.

Mike Myers Screen-Worn Iconic Suit From “Austin Powers in Goldmember”

Mike Myers screen-worn memorable suit from the 2002 film “Austin Powers in Goldmember.” Myers played various roles in the hugely successful film, including Dr. Evil, Goldmember and Fat Bastard. Purple and pink “groovy-baby-yeah!” suit was featured in many of the film’s most memorable scenes. Full suit includes (1) a red and blue vertical-striped suit, jacket and pants, both custom-made with “Mike Myers” printed on tag; (2) two periwinkle and white polka dot “Venice Custom Shirts” brand button-downs, size medium; (3) a red and white-striped neck scarf; (4) yellow socks; (5) a red and white-striped tie and (6) a white belt. Also includes an 8.5″ x 11″ color copy of the cover of “Entertainment Weekly” featuring Myers in the suit and signed boldly “Mike Myers” along bottom in blue marker. With COA from New Line Cinema. Fine. Sold for $9,224.

Lobby Card for the 1937 Three Stooges Film ”Grips, Grunts & Groans” Starring Curly — Measures 14” x 11” — Creasing at Corners, Small 1” Closed Tear at Bottom & Light Toning; Overall Very Good. Sold for $8,435.

Mike Myers Screen-Worn Iconic Crushed Orange Jacket From ”Austin Powers in Goldmember”

Mike Myers screen-worn orange jacket from the 2002 film ”Austin Powers in Goldmember.” Myers played various roles in the hugely successful film, including Dr. Evil, Goldmember and Fat Bastard. Costume is worn in the outrageous and comical scene in which Powers fights Mini Me in his hotel room. Custom-made crushed orange velvet jacket has four brown buttons and a yellow patterned lining. Nicely framed and matted against a blue background with a plaque and the film’s logo reading ”Jacket worn by Mike Myers in Goldmember”, with a movie still along the bottom. Frame measures 31.5” x 41.5”, in fine condition. With COA from the Prop Store. Sold for $2,520.

Charlie Chaplin signed photo in his most famous character as “The Tramp”. Semi-matte photo measures 5″ x 7″, boldly signed in black ink, “Faithfully / Chas Chaplin”. Light wear, overall very good plus condition. Sold for $2,000.

Fantastic Laurel & Hardy Signed Photo Measuring 13.5” x 10.5” — With JSA COA

Very large Laurel & Hardy signed photograph, measuring 13.5” x 10.5”. The comedic duo sign alongside their images, ”Stan Laurel” and ”Oliver Hardy”, with an additional inscription by Laurel: ”Our sincerest good wishes always Dave & Bill! The old kids! Stan & Ollie!”. Matte photo is in very good condition, with slight creasing and wear, small amount of discoloration to Laurel’s image and slight smudge to Hardy’s signature. Overall an attractive piece, unusual in its size. With JSA COA for both signatures. Sold for $1,875.

Charlie Chaplin Signed Matte Finish 11″ x 14″ Photo

Charlie Chaplin signed 11″ x 14″ silver gelatin photo, a stunning image taken in 1921 by Strauss Peyton Studios. Matte photo is signed by Chaplin in blue fountain pen, “To Lottie – With my very best wishes for a happy New Years / Sincerely yours / Charlie Chaplin”. Discreet ink spots near Chaplin’s buttons, and slight wear to margins, not affecting image. Overall very good to near fine condition. Sold for $1,600.

Chris Farley ”Beverly Hills Ninja” Costume — One of the Final Films in The Comedic Actor’s Career

Actor Chris Farley karate costume from the 1997 film ”Beverly Hills Ninja”, released the same year the actor passed away from a drug overdose. Farley played ”Haru” in the slapstick comedy, an orphan raised by a clan of ninjas. Traditional cotton karate costume includes a tan wide-sleeved top with a ”Golden Tiger” brand tag, including a handwritten ”Haru” and ”Sony” to label. Ensemble also includes a pair of matching pants, unsized, though included wardrobe tag lists costume as size 7. Top measures 28” shoulder-to-shoulder and 35” in length; pants have a 48” waist and are 42” in length. Minor dirt residue along bottom, else near fine. Includes a Prop Store COA. Sold for $1,562.

Pristine Laurel & Hardy 10” x 8” Signed Photo

Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy sign a matte-finish photo. The comedy team, who made comedies together for twenty years starting in the 1920’s, sign in fountain pen, ”OUR REGARDS & BEST WISHES LOUISE! / Stan Laurel.” and ”Oliver Hardy” to the border. Inscriptions appear on the verso from several of Louise’s friends, otherwise 10” x 8” photo is in near fine condition. Sold for $1,477.

Jim Carrey Screen-Worn Gloves From the Hit Christmas Comedy ”How the Grinch Stole Christmas”

Original screen-worn welding gloves, worn by Jim Carrey as the Grinch on set of the 2000 hit film, ”How the Grinch Stole Christmas.” Dr. Seuss’ most popular children’s book was whimsically adapted for the screen starring Carrey. Heavy duty leather welding gloves measure 14” and have black electrical tape on them. Intentional distress to gloves to look worn. Near fine. With provenance from Premiere Props and Universal Pictures. Sold for $1,399.

Mike Myers Screen Worn Robe as Austin Powers

Mike Myers screen-worn robe from the first two “Austin Powers” movies. Myers dons the robe in the pivotal final scene of “Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery”. The sequel resumes from the same scene, thus Myers appears again in the robe in the first scene of “Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me”, when Vanessa is revealed to be a Fembot. True blue satin robe features bright yellow piping and a yellow male symbol embroidered to the left breast pocket. Near fine. With provenance from a sweepstakes held by AOL and New Line Cinema, the winner of which received this robe. Also included is a 22.25″ x 30″ poster of Myers’ “Got Milk?” ad in which he wears the iconic robe again. The ad is also found in an included compilation book of “Got Milk?” ads titled, “Milk Mustache Mania” published by Scholastic in 2001 and featuring an article about the shoot with Myers. Sold for $765.

Eight ”Saturday Night Live” Cast Member Signatures — Including Comedic Legends Chris Farley, Phil Hartman & More — With PSA/DNA COA

Rare collection of ”Saturday Night Live” cast member signatures and inscriptions on NBC letterhead. With eight signatures in total from some of the show’s most famous alumni. Each comedic actor signs and inscribes a personal note to ”Herb”. Inscriptions read, ”Hey Herb, No no no. You’re the funny one. Phil Hartman”; ”Herb, I’ve always loved you. Chris Farley”; ”To Herb, Best wishes and Merry Christmas!! love, Julia Sweeney”; ”The Herb-ster, Rob Schneider”; ”Victoria Jackson”; ”Herb, I’m your favorite. Dana Carvey”; ”To Herb, Merry Christmas.
