Walt Disney’s Pinocchio Cel from Animation — From ”Jealous Figaro” Scene With Pinocchio, Figaro the Cat & Mister Geppetto
A Disney’s 1939 Pinocchio cel the follow-up to the first animated film, ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” This cel shows Pinocchio together with Mister Geppetto and Figaro in the famous ”Jealous Figaro” scene. Matted by Courvoisier, the official art gallery for Walt Disney Studios during much of the 20th century, artwork measures 6.5” x 6.75, framed to 13.5” x 14.5”. Printed slip affixed to verso reads in part, ”This is an original painting on celluloid, actually used in the Walt Disney Production of Pinocchio. It is one of a select few that have been released to art collectors. The remainder have been destroyed. Copyright 1939…Walt Disney Productions”. Cel is near fine with no cracking. Sold for $8,908.
Disney 1940 Pinocchio Cel from Production — Featuring Pinnochio as a Puppet & Figaro The Cat — During The Scene When Geppetto Learns Pinnochio Talks!
Walt Disney’s Pinocchio cel. Disney’s second feature-length animated film in 1940 followed on the heels of the wildly successful and groundbreaking ”Snow White.” Cel titled ”Pinocchio & The Cat” was used in filming the thrilling scene when Pinnochio first speaks and woodcutter-turned-puppeteer Gepetto gleefully discovers his beloved creation has the potential to turn into a real human boy. Gepetto’s hands hold Pinnochio up by his red suspenders while the cat, Figaro, watches in amusement. Both Pinnochio and Figaro were drawn by Disney staff animator Eric Larson of ”Disney’s Nine Old Men” core animation team. Measures 7.75” x 7.25”. Matted and framed by Courvoisier Galleries to an overall size of 14.75” x 15.5”. Figaro has shifted from original position and a pencil notation appears at the corner, else cel is near fine. Scratching to frame, else near fine. With original Disney label of authenticity affixed to verso of frame. Sold for $5,407.

A Disney’s 1940 classic Pinocchio cel animation from the follow-up to the first animated film, ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” Cel depicts Pinocchio, still in possession of marionette limbs, dancing with Figaro, Gepetto’s cat. Cel measures 5.25″ x 5.5″, matted to an overall size of 9.75″ x 10.25″. Some very minor hairline cracks to each character, else near fine. Sold for $4,000.
Walt Disney ”Pinocchio” Book Signed — With The Signatures of More Than 20 Early Disney Animators
Walt Disney signed ”Pinocchio”, published by Random House: New York: 1939. Hardcover volume is inscribed upon the copyright page in giant bold letters in Disney’s distinctive hand, ”To Al / Best / Wishes / Walt Disney”. A small note appears to the upper right, ”To Al Parke” in an unknown hand, and 1940 has been lightly written at the bottom of the page. Unpaginated children’s story book is illustrated in both color and black and white, and is signed throughout by more than 20 early Disney animators. Bound in pictorial paper boards with blue cloth spine and pictorial endpapers. Measures 8.5” x 11.5”. Ever so slight toning to leaves, cocking to spine and wear to the bottom edges of boards. Near fine. Sold for $3,438.
1940 Disney Classic Pinocchio Cel — Shows Pinocchio During His Escapade at the Bottom of the Sea to Save Geppetto
Disney animation Pinocchio cel. Adorable cel filmed in the 1940 classic is of Pinocchio underwater after diving to the ocean floor in an attempt to save his maker, Geppetto, who was swallowed by a whale while at sea. Pinocchio has sprouted donkey ears and a tail from the adventure immediately preceding this rescue mission. A trio of fish cels surround the sunken marionette, who, with raised eyebrows and big eyes, looks very much out of his element in the watery environment. Scene measures 8.5″ square, matted and framed to an overall size of 15.25″ square. With Courvoisier Galleries sticker affixed to backing. Backing shows tearing and frame shows nicks. Some buckling and displacement to background and fading, otherwise cel is near fine. Sold for $1,900.

From Disney’s 1940 classic, a Pinocchio cel for the follow-up to the first animated film, ”Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.” This cel shows the film’s narrator, Jiminy Cricket happily convening with a butterfly. Matted and set-up (background artwork added to enhance the framed cel) by Courvoisier, the official art gallery for Walt Disney Studios during much of the 20th century. Artwork measures 3” x 3.5”, matted to 7” x 8.5”. Printed slip affixed to verso reads in part, ”This is an original painting on celluloid, actually used in the Walt Disney Production of Pinocchio.
