Music Memorabilia

From MJ to the Beatles, the one-of-a-kind music memorabilia we’ve had the opportunity to auction truly continues to impress.

Here are some top ticket items from the past couple years of auctions —

We’ve auctioned our  fair share of one-of-a-kind Michael Jackson music memorabilia items in the past year, like his famous glove, encrusted with Swarvoski beading, accompanied by an autograph attesting to the authenticity of the glove: “My original glove / Love / M.J*”.

It sold for an incredible $199,069.

Jumping back in time to the era of classic rock —

Defining the Golden Age of 60′s rock-and-roll music in America is no small feat, and David Crosby remains one of the era’s pioneers. As a founding member of two of the era’s most renowned bands — Crosby, Stills and Nash & The Byrds – his talents as a guitarist and singer/songwriter remain unparalleled.

We auctioned David Crosby’s music memorabilia including his personally owned and played Gibson guitar, used by Crosby in “The Byrds,” one of the most influential bands of the 1960’s. It sold for $25,428.

Crosby’s role in “The Byrds” from the iconic group’s formation in 1964 until his departure in 1967 garnered him his first of two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

We auctioned  Madonna’s 1987 American Music Award for Favorite Female Pop/Rock Artist of 1987. This piece of music memorabilia sold for $25,428.

Unlike the Grammys, which are determined by music industry insiders, the American Music Awards are based on record sales, airplay and video viewing.

Here’s a few more AMA’s from famous bands and singers of the past 50 years —

Axl Rose’s American Music Award presented to Guns N’ Roses as Favorite Heavy Metal / Hard Rock Artist at the 1992 ceremony. It sold for $19,103.

George Michael’s American Music Award for “Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist”, held on 19 January 1989 at the height of his fame surrounding his “Faith” album, which to date has sold 20 million copies worldwide. A great piece of music memorabilia that sold for $17,365.

American Music Award presented to drummer Dave Abbruzzese of Pearl Jam in 1996 at the height of their fame. It sold for $14,351.

And of course, The Beatles remain the cornerstone of music history, still revered by musicians and fans alike.

John Lennon music memorabilia are exceedingly rare in the auction world, and we sold an incredible personal letter from the musical pariah —

John Lennon autograph letter signed, ”John Lennon”. He responds to fan mail in 1968 during his trip to Rishikesh, India. It sold for $17,365.

In other Beatles-related memorabilia, we auctioned this contract rider for the Beatles 28 August 1965 concert in San Diego. It sold for $10,780.

Signed by the ”fifth Beatle,” their manager Brian Epstein. This concert was a particularly well-documented event in rock and roll history symbolizing Beatlemania.

Every Beatle brought their own personal style and talent to the mix — and each changed individually as The Beatles traveled to India together in 1968 to study transcendental meditation with the Maharishi, an experience which had a profound influence on both their music and personal lives.

Here, George Harrison writes his very personal thoughts on spirituality to fellow Beatle Ringo Starr in this booklet entitled, ”Fourteen Scientific Reasons Why No One Dies.” It sold for $8,908.
