Mikhail Gorbachev is a Russian and Ukrainian former Soviet politician who served as the president of the Soviet Union from 1990 to 1991. In the mid-1980s, as the General Secretary of the Communist Party, he implemented his perestroika and glasnost reform policies which afforded more freedom and helped end the Cold War. Gorbachev is regarded as one of the most important figures of latter half of the 20th century. He has received numerous awards, including the Nobel Peace Prize of 1990, for his leadership in ending the Cold War, reunifying Germany and helping restore human rights in the Soviet Union.

Mikhail Gorbachev Easton Press Signed Copy of His Book ”Perestroika” — Fine Condition
Mikhail Gorbachev signed collector’s edition of ”Perestroika”, or ”restructuring”, one of the essential prongs of his policy to reform the U.S.S.R., leading to the end of the Cold War. Easton Press copy is #106 of 250, published in Norwalk: 1987. Beautiful, fine copy is bound in burgundy leather with peach silk moire endpapers and all edges gilt. Measures 6.25” x 9.25”. Presented in custom slipcase, also in fine condition. Sold for $2,138.

Reagan as U.S. President and Gorbachev as General Secretary of the Soviet Union sign the mat surrounding the 6.25” x 9.5” photo in black ink: ”M Gorbachev” and ”Ronald Reagan”. Framed to overall size of 17.25” x 15.5”. Near fine. Sold for $4,915.
