Full signature by Martin Luther King, who signs in blue ballpoint, ”Best Wishes / Martin Luther King”, without inscription. King pens his signature on the verso of a menu from Caravelle restaurant in Oslo, Norway on 14 December 1964, when he was in the country to accept his Nobel Peace Prize. The signature was obtained by a waiter at the restaurant. Slip measures 5” x 2.875”. Near fine condition. Sold for $3,250.

Martin Luther King Jr. (born Michael King Jr.; January 15, 1929 – April 4, 1968) was an American Baptist minister and activist who became the most visible spokesperson and leader in the American civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. King advanced civil rights through nonviolence and civil disobedience, inspired by his Christian beliefs and the nonviolent activism of Mahatma Gandhi. He was the son of early civil rights activist Martin Luther King Sr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. autograph, signed in blue ballpoint, “Best Wishes / Martin Luther King” on the back of a fundraising card for the Southern Christian Leadership Conference. Large signature fills almost entirety of 4.5″ x 3.125″ slip. Fold, light creasing and faint rust from paperclip impression. Very good condition. Sold for $2,540.
