Apollo 11 Crew-Signed Certificate, Also Signed by Richard Nixon — Very Rare Replica of the One Left on the Moon — With Steve Zarelli & University Archives COAs for All Signatures
Very rare certificate — a replica of the one left on the lunar surface by the Apollo 11 crew — signed by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins and President Richard Nixon. Upon the certificate, which is signed next to the mens’ printed signatures, it reads, “Here Men From the Planet Earth First Set Foot Upon The Moon July 1969, A.D. We Came In Peace For All Mankind”. Visible portion of certificate measures 8″ x 6.5″, double matted to a size of 16.5″ x 15.5″. Near fine condition. With a COA from Steve Zarelli for all three Apollo 11 signatures, and a COA from University Archives for Richard Nixon’s signature. The only such Apollo 11 item signed by both the crew and President that we have seen. Sold for $15,000.

Poster of three children gazing upward at the moon is commemorated by the autographs of 18 Apollo astronauts including 8 moonwalkers: Charles Conrad, Ron Evans, Stu Roosa, Dick Gordon, Charlie Duke, Michael Collins, Walt Cunningham, Jim Lovell, Buzz Aldrin, Don Eisele, Bill Anders, Alan Bean, Jim Irwin, Al Worden, Rusty Schweickart, Alan Shepard, Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt. From the collection of Jibby Sidwell, President of American Spaceweek, who donated the poster to her children’s school auction in 1987, accompanied by the auction donation form. ”Printed by Metro-Graphics, Inc. Washington, D.C.” appears to lower left of poster. Measures 17” x 22”. Light creasing along top edge and minute buckling, overall near fine condition. With a COA from Steve Zarelli for all signatures. Sold for $7,500.

Astronauts boldly sign their names in black, green and blue ink: ”Neil Armstrong”, ”Mike Collins”, ”Buzz Aldrin”, ”Richard Gordon”, ”Gordon Cooper”, ”James Lovell”, ”James G. McDivitt”, ”Gene Cernan”, ”Wally Schirra”, ”Charles Conrad”, ”Tom Stafford” and ”Frank Borman”. Verso includes a summary of the Gemini Program and captions for each photograph. Very minor creasing to corners, otherwise near fine condition. All signatures clean and striking. Sold for $6,250.
