Here is a King James I signed document we have sold in the past:
King James I 1598 Partial Document Signed “James R.”
James VI and I (James Charles Stuart; 19 June 1566 – 27 March 1625) was King of Scotland as James VI from 24 July 1567 and King of England and Ireland as James I from the union of the Scottish and English crowns on 24 March 1603 until his death in 1625. The kingdoms of Scotland and England were individual sovereign states, with their own parliaments, judiciaries, and laws, though both were ruled by James in personal union.
King James I partial document signed, dated 1598 from Scotland. Here, King James orders the inquiry and punishment of certain disorders and requires his loyal subjects to help him. Writing is very faint and presumably written in Old English. At this time, James was still King James VI, earning the title of James I from the union of the English and Scottish crowns in March 1603. Document measures 9.5″ x 3.75″, a fragmented portion of the original document. Mounted to a backing board to an overall size of 9.5″ x 5.75″. Toning, fading and irregular edges. Good to very good condition. Sold for $1,000.
