Sell Your John Cazale Autograph
John Holland Cazale (/kəˈzeɪl/) (August 12, 1935 – March 13, 1978) was an American actor. He appeared in five films over seven years, all of which were nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture: The Godfather (1972), The Conversation (1974), The Godfather Part II (1974), Dog Day Afternoon (1975), and The Deer Hunter (1978), with the two Godfather films and The Deer Hunter winning. Cazale started as a theater actor in New York City, ranging from regional, to off-Broadway, to Broadway acting alongside Al Pacino, Meryl Streep, and Sam Waterston. Cazale soon became one of Hollywood’s premier character actors, starting with his role as the doomed, weak-minded Fredo Corleone opposite longtime friend Al Pacino in Francis Ford Coppola’s film The Godfather, its 1974 sequel, and Dog Day Afternoon. Cazale chose to continue acting despite having been diagnosed with lung cancer. He died in New York City on March 13, 1978, shortly after completing his role in The Deer Hunter.

Stetson brand hat shows minor soiling under brim and a tiny stain to the crown, else near fine. One of Brando’s most celebrated roles as one of cinema’s grandest characters. With provenance from Christie’s. Sold for $26,798.
Al Pacino screen-worn suit jacket as Michael Corleone in ”The Godfather Part II.” This piece appears in the heated scene in which Michael gives his brother Fredo the kiss of death and reveals his knowledge that Fredo was behind the plot to kill him. Suit jacket was custom made for the production by legendary Hollywood costumer Western Costume Co. and bears two of the design house’s stamps to the lining as well as a label. Type to the label reads, ”Al Pacino – Chest 19 – Sleeve 17 1/2”. Francis Ford Coppola’s Godfather trilogy is among the most successful of Hollywood franchises. Black jacket is single-breasted with three buttons. Near fine. With provenance from Profiles in History. Sold for $7,199.
The Coat Worn by Al Pacino as Michael Corleone in ”The Godfather III”
The coat Al Pacino wore as Michael Corleone, the anti-hero in 1990’s “The Godfather III,” the third and final film of Francis Ford Coppola’s mafia family saga. Men’s black wool coat with brown beaver fur trim. A tag stitched inside identifies the brand as Cardinal of Canada, and Pacino’s name is inked onto the tag in an unknown hand, likely by a wardrobe stylist on set. In very good condition. With provenance from Christie’s. Sold for $5,118.
“The Godfather” Book Signed by the Cast of the Celebrated Film — Signed by Brando, Pacino, Keaton, Caan, Shire, Martino and Others
Cast signed copy of “The Godfather”, the novel by Mario Puzo that was adapted into the feature film, lauded as second only to “Citizen Kane” as the greatest film ever made. The verso of the front cover and first several leaves bear cast signatures in blue ink, including Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Diane Keaton, Talia Shire, Robert Duvall, who also signed his character’s name “Tom Hagen”, and others, with an autograph inscription signed by Richard Castellano. One scrawled signature is possibly that of John Cazale. Softcover tome measures 4.5″ x 7″. Toning and front cover is detached cover, else near fine. With PSA/DNA COA. Sold for $2,400.
Six “The Godfather Part III” Signed Actor Contracts
The Godfather Part III signed contracts securing a round of six stars of the final film in Francis Ford Coppola’s lauded mafia trilogy: Al Pacino, Diane Keaton, Winona Ryder (who dropped out before filming), Bridget Fonda, George Hamilton and Andy Garcia. Pacino reprises his signature role as mob boss Michael Corleone, signing “Al Pacino” twice to page 12 of his $2,500,000+ contract as the film’s top-billed star. He signs the first time on behalf of his own company, Chal Productions, Inc., and again underneath as Performer. Dated 11 October 1989, the Agreement runs a total of 82pp., including the initial contract plus multiple riders, Exhibits, and Schedules of Royalties. Though “The Godfather Part III” grossed over $136,000,000, Robert Duvall’s conspicuous absence from this picture is said to have been due to a dispute over pay. An 11pp. contract dated 28 July 1989 signed “Diane Keaton” entitles her to at least $1,050,000 to play Michael Corleone’s ex-wife Kay. Also on 28 July “Winona Ryder” signs her 17pp. contract to play daughter Mary Corleone, but ultimately backed out, citing exhaustion. The decision to recast the role with the director’s own daughter Sofia Coppola proved highly controversial, and became arguably the most heavily criticized aspect of the film. “Andy Garcia” signs his 29 September 1989 contract to play Vincent Mancini, the role for which he won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Runs 20pp. “Bridget Fonda” signs her 16 November 1989 contract to play Grace. Runs 21pp. plus a 2pp. document from her attorney dated 4 January 1990 that she also signs regarding publicity stills. All of the contracts name Coppola’s production company Zoetrope Italia as the producer and are signed by a representative. Each also contains a morality clause governing the performers’ conduct off the set, except for Pacino’s, which places no restrictions on his behavior, and Garcia’s, which limits his potential trouble-making to all but “…a felony involving moral turpitude…” Each typed contract measures 8.5″ x 11″ and comes stapled at the upper left. Mild creasing and with the first page of Pacino’s contract detached from the rest of the packet, else near fine. Sold for $2,000.
