Here is a Jimmy Doolittle Raiders signed book we have sold in the past:
“Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders” Signed by 28 Raiders & Him
The Doolittle Raid, also known as the Tokyo Raid, was an air raid on 18 April 1942 by the United States on the Japanese capital Tokyo and other places on Honshu during World War II. It was the first air operation to strike the Japanese archipelago. It demonstrated that the Japanese mainland was vulnerable to American air attack, served as retaliation for the attack on Pearl Harbor, and provided an important boost to American morale. The raid was planned by, led by, and named after Lieutenant Colonel James Doolittle, later a Lieutenant General in the U.S. Army Air Forces and the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
General James Doolittle signed copy of “Doolittle’s Tokyo Raiders”, also signed by 28 of his Raiders. In addition to Doolittle, who was awarded the Medal of Honor for the raid, book is signed by his co-pilot Richard E. Cole, as well as by Chase Nielsen and Jake DeShazer (who signs twice), both of whom were captured and interned by the Japanese. Authored by Lt. Col. Carroll Glines, who signs the title page. New York: Van Nostrand Reinhold Co., 1964. All men sign the front free endpaper, with Travis Hoover additionally inscribing the flyleaf, and signing above his photo on page 141. Book with dust jacket measures 6.25″ x 9.25″. Light shelf wear and a few dog-eared pages, overall very good plus condition. Accompanied by ticket to the Doolittle’s Tokyo Raider Reunion held on 22 April 1989. Sold for $1,169.
