The Grateful Dead was a rock group formed in Palo Alto during the counterculture movement of the 1960s. Founding members included Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron McKernan, Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzmann. The band had a three decade career until Garcia’s death in 1995 and released 13 studio albums between 1967 and 1989. Seven of their studio albums were certified gold in the United States and four were platinum or double platinum. The Grateful Dead was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Charles Schulz original hand-drawing of Snoopy, signed by Schulz. Illustration of Snoopy in a ranger’s hat and backpack was used for a poster to promote the ”Open Nature” concert on 27 April 1999, with members of the Grateful Dead playing. Drawing is accompanied by the concert poster, signed by Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and by Van Halen frontman Sammy Hagar. Illustration of Snoopy is complemented by a nature scene of mountains and trees, drawn by Brooks Anderson, and signed ”Brooks ’99”. Lot also includes a laminated pass to the event, also showing the illustration of Snoopy. Schulz illustration measures 8” x 10” inside of black frame measuring 12.5” x 14.5”. Poster measures 13” x 19.5” inside of gold frame measuring 17.5” x 22”. Near fine. Sold for $3,933.

Grateful Dead Contract Signed — Signed by Six Members Including Jerry Garcia
Grateful Dead contract signed by six members of the eclectic and legendary band that defies classification. Last page of fourteen page contract is signed in order, “Jerry Garcia”, “Mickey Hart”, “Bill Kreutzmann”, “Phil Lesh”, “Brent Mydland” and “Bob Weir”. Undated, though likely in the 1980’s when Brent Mydland played with the band. Single page is in near fine condition with filing holes to left margin and staple marks to upper left corner. Sold for $1,883.

Grateful Dead photo signed by 5 members of the band, including Jerry Garcia, and also by famous Deadhead Bill Walton. Glossy photo from 1988 is signed by Bob Weir, Jerry Garcia, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann, who signs “ME” and draws an arrow to his picture. Also signed by Bill Walton along the lower margin. Measures 10″ x 8″. Light smudging or ink adhesion to a few signatures and restoration to upper left corner. Very good condition. With Roger Epperson COA. Sold for $1,875.


1966 Grateful Dead Concert Poster
The Grateful Dead concert poster, datelined 16-17 September 1966, Avalon Ballroom, San Francisco. Poster’s third printing, measuring 14″ x 20,” pre-dates The Dead’s 1967 self-titled debut album. Contains wicked illustration by Mouse featuring The Dead’s skeleton mascot surrounded by dozens of blooming roses. Original concert bill takes the viewer back to the days when the San Francisco clan of Jerry Garcia (lead guitar, vocals), Bob Weir (rhythm guitar), Ron “Pigpen” McKernan (organ, vocals), Phil Lesh (bass), and Bill Kreutzmann (on drums) ruled the roost as the ultimate jam band. Excellent memento from the cosmic group’s hometown concert, during which they performed Bob Dylan’s “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue,” the Cropper/Pickett hit “In The Midnight Hour,” and the Dead classic “I Know You Rider.” Bright red, white and blue color scheme, corner wear, overall mint. Sold for $858.

Stage front ticket to the groundbreaking 1967 Monterey Pop Music Festival. This ticket, No. 296, is for Sunday the 18th, and admits one to Jimi Hendrix’s legendary first performance in the U.S. in which he famously ”sacrificed” and destroyed his guitar onstage. The precursor to Woodstock, this large-scale festival kicked off the infamous Summer of Love in Northern California with The Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Otis Redding, The Who and more. This weekend also saw Janis Joplin give her historic best performance in the history of rock. Three years later both Hendrix and Joplin would be dead. Ticket measures 3.5” x 1.25”. Fine. A gem from an unsurpassed era in music and youth culture. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA COA. Sold for $300.

Richard Wright’s personally owned RIAA Platinum award for “The Dark Side of the Moon” by Pink Floyd, the band’s most successful album and consistently ranked one of the greatest rock albums of all time. White matte award features a gold vinyl record above the album’s cover art and a plaque reading “PRESENTED TO / RICHARD WRIGHT / TO COMMEMORATE THE SALE OF MORE THAN / ONE MILLION DOLLARS WORTH OF THE / HARVEST RECORDS / LONG-PLAYING RECORD ALBUM / ‘THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON’”. Award is in original frame, with RIAA framer, New York Frame & Picture Co. label on paper backing. Measures 17.75″ x 21.5″. Some nicks to wood frame, and a few spots of discoloration to matte at the very bottom, otherwise near fine condition. Accompanied by an LOA from Wright’s second wife, Franka Wright. Richard Wright’s Platinum RIAA album for “The Wall” sold in 2005 for over $40,000. Sold for $25,000.


Bob Marley Signed ”Kaya” Album — Signed ”Rasta Love Kaya / Bob Marley” — With Roger Epperson COA
Bob Marley signed ”Kaya” album, inscribed by the legend in blue ballpoint pen, ”Rasta Love Kaya / Bob Marley”. Released in 1978, ”Kaya” include the iconic songs ”Is This Love” and ”Sun Is Shining”, promoted by Bob Marley & The Wailers in a worldwide tour in 1978, where this autograph was obtained on their stop in Paris in June. Some creasing to album cover, small bit of abrasion at upper left and inconspicuous tape along left side. On the verso is written ”Pascal 78” in orange marker. Vinyl record included, which has some shallow scratching. With Roger Epperson COA. A visually interesting and rare signed piece by Marley, ideal for display. Sold for $6,655.

Bob Dylan Signed Double Album ”Blonde on Blonde”
Bob Dylan signed album, ”Blonde on Blonde”, one of rock’s first double albums released in 1966. Many consider it one of the greatest rock albums of all time, with the classic songs ”Just Like a Woman”, ”Visions of Johanna”, ”I Want You” and ”Rainy Day Women #12 & 35”. Signed by Dylan on the famous blurred focus cover. Measures 12.25” square. Signature has been authenticated by Bob Dylan’s manager and album is from the stock of the manager and Bob Dylan. Near fine condition. Sold for $6,250.

Pink Floyd rare signed ”Ummagumma” album, signed by all four band members in large black marker on the album’s front cover: Roger Waters, Richard Wright, Nick Mason and David Gilmour. The ”Ummagumma” double album, released in October 1969, is considered by many to be one of the best live albums ever produced. Some dampstaining to top edge, light ring wear and partially separated spine. Overall in good plus condition. With a COA from Roger Epperson for all four signatures. Sold for $5,000.


The Eagles Signed Test Pressing for ”Hotel California” — With PSA/DNA COA
The Eagles signed test pressing of their LP ”Hotel California”. This pressing is from 1976, shortly before the album debuted in February 1977 and would go onto win a Grammy for Record of the Year, making the Eagles a household name. Pressing was given to a journalist who interviewed the band, to whom the album is inscribed, ”J.J., Enjoyed the interview / Thanks” under which they sign ”Glenn Frey”, ”Don Henley”, ”Joe Walsh”, ”Randy Meisner” and ”Don Felder”. Album cover measures 12.5” square. Minor wear and spotting to album cover, overall very good condition. Vinyl records appears near fine. With a COA from PSA/DNA. Sold for $4,063.

David Bowie Signed Aladdin Sane Album Epperson COA
David Bowie signed album cover of “Aladdin Sane” with the iconic photograph of a lightning bolt painted on Bowie’s face, one of the most recognizable album covers of all time. Cover is signed and dated 1991 in silver pen by Bowie. Album measures 12.25″ square, with record included. A bit of edgewear to front of album and small spot of abrasion to back. Rare Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl Signed EP — With Cobain Signing as “Kurdt” — With Roger Epperson COA
Kurt Cobain and Dave Grohl signed EP record with Cobain signing as ”Kurdt”, the name he often used in notebooks to refer to himself. Both Cobain and Grohl sign the front cover of ”Teriyaki Asthma”, a compilation EP released in 1989 by C/Z Records featuring Nirvana’s song ”Mexican Seafood”, with Cobain’s name on the back cover also spelled ”Kurdt Kobain”. The EP is rare on its own in the Nirvana oeuvre as only 1,000 were ever released. Record measures 7.25” square. Very well-preserved, with cover, sleeve and record all in near fine condition. With Roger Epperson COA for both signatures. A rare signed Nirvana record signed by Cobain, perhaps the only signed example of this rare compilation EP. Sold for $2,940.
