HR Giger Autograph Up for Auction at Nate D. Sanders
HR Giger is an Academy Award-winning Swiss artist who is best known for his art contribution in the “Alien” movie franchise. The basis for the film visuals stemmed from his earlier artwork titled Necronom IV. Other career contributions included artwork for the “Dune” film, based on Frank Herbert science fiction novel, and “Poltergeist II”. We will be auctioning an autographed limited edition copy of his book “Biomechanics” in our January 2019 auction. Bidding begins at $2,500.

H.R. Giger limited edition of his classic art book, ”Biomechanics”, with the accompanying signed lithograph by Giger numbered 88 of 300 in the limited edition. Las Vegas: Morpheus International, 2005, 7th printing. Giger, who won an Academy Award for his creation of the eponymous ”Alien” in Ridley Scott’s 1979 film here includes 98pp. of his characteristic surreal and haunting artwork, with an introduction by Harlan Ellison, in part, ”Giger is working with primal materials, and his mission is to stand our hair on end…He is both question and answer. Enigma and revelation.” Book measures 12” x 17”, bound in black leather and housed in its custom black cloth slipcase. Near fine condition. Bidding starts at $2,500.

Giger, who won an Academy Award for his creation of the eponymous ”Alien” in Ridley Scott’s 1979 film, signs here upon the lithograph bound into the volume, numbered 661 of the limited edition. Beverly Hills, CA: Morpheus International, 1991 luxury limited edition. Clive Barker pens the introduction to this volume, full of Giger’s masterful, macabre artwork, writing, ”Long after the cinema’s appropriations of Giger’s genius have lost their power to appall, the generations that follow us will come to books like these – perhaps to the very copy you hold in your hands, preserved down the decades – and meet the artist’s vision afresh.” Book runs 91pp. and measures 12” x 16.75”, bound in black leather and housed in its custom black cloth slipcase.
