Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Autograph 5″ x 7″ Pre-1928 Photo in Yankee Pinstripes and Wearing Baseball Mitts
Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig autograph photograph. 5″ x 7″ black and white image depicts the two Yankee greats standing side by side on the baseball field wearing their pinstripe pants. Inscribed by Ruth in brown ink at the upper left, “For Walter from, ‘Babe’ Ruth” beside which Gehrig signs in black ink, “& Lou Gehrig”. Small .25″ tear (with no emulsion loss) at top, not affecting either signature, else fine. A difficult to acquire pairing of legendary signatures on a single photograph. A Babe Ruth signature with the quotation marks around “Babe” typifies his pre-1928 autograph and will sell at a higher value as well. Sold for $19,036.

John F. Kennedy & Jackie Kennedy Signed Photo Measuring 9″ x 13.25″ — An Alfred Eisenstaedt Photo Signed by the Photographer Too
Evocative photograph signed by John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy as they campaigned for the Presidency in 1960. Silver gelatin photograph is also signed at lower right by Alfred Eisenstaedt, who took the photo and writes about it on the verso, “This…shows John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy on a campaign trip to New York City in September 1960, after he was chosen by the Democratic Convention to be their standard bearer. Please put it in your collection, I think it is very valuable. Eisenstaedt”. Jacqueline Kennedy inscribes the front of the photo to “Eisie”, the nickname used by Eisenstaedt’s friends and family, “with gratitude” after which the future President and First Lady sign their names, “John Kennedy” and “Jacqueline Kennedy”. With Eisenstaedt’s stamp on verso, “PHOTO BY ALFRED EISENSTAEDT” as well as a stamp by Life magazine. Photo measures 9″ x 13.25″. Small crease to lower right, overall in very good to near fine condition. From Alfred Eisenstaedt’s estate and with University Archives COA for both signatures. Sold for $10,000

“Street Incidents: A Series of Twenty-One Permanent Photographs with Descriptive Letter” by John Thompson, published by Sampson Low, Marston, Searle & Rivington: London: 1881. Pictures created using Woodburytype photo processing. 8.75″ x 11″ book is bound in original green cloth boards with gilt decoration on front cover. Separation of fabric from backstrip, cracked hinges, rubber stamp on front free endpaper and contents page, and label on front pastedown. Photos are in near fine condition; the book is overall very good. Sold for $4,125.

Alfred Eisenstaedt signed 11″ x 14″ silver gelatin photograph of John F. Kennedy with his daughter Caroline. According to Eisenstaedt’s handwritten notation on the verso, the photo was taken in Hyannisport in August 1960 after JFK’s nomination for President. Signed “Eisenstaedt” on the photographic border. With Eisenstaedt’s stamp on verso, “PHOTO BY ALFRED EISENSTAEDT”. Near fine condition. From Alfred Eisenstaedt’s estate. Sold for $3,704.94.
“Every Building on the Sunset Strip” by Edward Ruscha, 1st
Rare first edition, first printing of Edward Ruscha’s important self-published photographic book “Every Building on the Sunset Strip”: Los Angeles: 1966. The accordion-style volume possesses the first edition point of the small folded flap on the last page. This unique work features continuous photography of a two and a half mile stretch of Sunset Boulevard, the same area that was the site of the Sunset Strip curfew riots in the summer of 1966. Both sides of the street are shown, complete with the exact street numbers and names of cross streets. A historical and artistically influential work. Softcover book measures 5.75″ x 7″. Light soiling, creasing to the spine, else near fine. The original mylar slipcase is included. Light soiling and tape repair to top and tail edges. Very good. Sold for $2,722.
