Rare Harry Houdini Autograph on a 7″ x 9″ Photo With Long Inscription On Mount
Harry Houdini autograph on a photo of Harry Houdini, famous magician & President of the Society of American Magicians, to “Mutiny on the Bounty” screenwriter and a founder of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Carey Wilson. To the right of Houdini’s mischievous grin, inscription reads: “Carey Wilson / Here’s hoping that my portrait will always bring back pleasant memories / Harry Houdini.” Harry Houdini autograph signed photo. Dated 27 December 1918. Mounted on vintage advertising board (Liberty Tobacco), measuring 7″ x 9″. Photo is a light sepia tone head shot. Inscription and signature in black ink. Some soiling, tiny black spots to upper lip, one inch crease to left margin at Houdini’s shoulder, tiny paper loss to lower left corner, and light creasing. Overall very good condition. Sold for $2,279.

Harry Houdini typed letter signed, ”Houdini”. Document is titled, ”An Open Letter to His Excellency Calvin Coolidge, President of the United States”. Houdini, an ardent debunker of phony mystics, writes to dissuade the President from relaxing laws against spiritualists in the District of Columbia. Letter dates to circa 1926. It reads in part, ”…any class of criminals or lawbreakers could, with equal right, add a pseudo-religious services to their unlawful practices and, when run down by the authorities, claim that they too were being ‘persecuted’ because of their religion…” Runs 2pp. on a single sheet, signed on verso. Measures approximately 25.75” x 8.5”. Near fine. Sold for $5,000.

Hardcover runs 206pp. Signed & inscribed in black ink to detached front free endpaper, “To Dr. Milton A. Budges / Best wishes / Houdini / June 21 – 1922.” Measures 5.5″ x 7.75″. First several pages detached, including signed page. Slight separation to boards & overall loosening to bind. Wear & soiling to boards & evidence of removed bookplate to front pastedown. Lot of ”Jaws” memorabilia and props used on set, including life jackets worn by Steven Spielberg and his cast, call sheets and an album of behind-the-scenes photos. The classic horror tale about a man-eating shark was filmed at Menemsha, a fishing village on Martha’s Vineyard in 1974 and enjoyed record success in gross revenue. Fantastic lot comprises: (1) Photo album containing 75 snapshots from the set and hotel, including 9 images of one of the animatronic sharks. Photos measure 4” x 3.5”. Album measures 9” x 11.5”. Photos are mounted to lightly adhesive pages, else near fine. (2) Roster of set personnel; 2pp. measuring 8.5” x 11”. Near fine. (3) Call sheets for shoots on 18 July 1974 and 3, 18-19 September. One page for each day, 4 pages total. 8.5” x 11”. Near fine. (4) Yellow-orange life vest labeled inside in red felt tip, ”S-Spielberg ‘Dir”’. ”RoboCop” OmniCorp Screen-Used Prop Body Parts From the Successful 2014 Remake of The Cult Classic
”RoboCop” screen-used prop body parts from the 2014 remake of the film. Parts are for the EM 208 OmniCorp robot. Includes four separated pieces: (1) EM-208 head, with molded features painted, as well as a high gloss foam coating. Silver and black in color, measures 8” x 8.5” with a 12” depth. (2) EM-208 torso as one full piece. Again with a high gloss coating. Molded features include a spinal column, immobile pistons, as well as other mechanical attachment pieces. Measures 14” x 30” with a 10” depth. Measures 7.8 pounds. (3) Two EM-208 legs, one left and one right leg, each in a high gloss coating. Left leg has two metal cord straps attached to the top for hanging and attachment purposes. Foot measures 6” x 13” together with the leg, 41” in height. Each leg weighs 8.4 pounds. Entire set weighs approximately 25 pounds. Minor wear, else near fine. With a COA from MGM. Sold for $25,000.

Shirley Temple Screen-Worn Heart Dress From 1938 Film ”Just Around the Corner”
Shirley Temple screen-worn heart dress, worn as ”Penny” in the 1938 film ”Just Around the Corner”. Designed by Gwen Wakeling, the blue wool dress is pleated and has three hearts on the chest. Attached is a matching short sleeve silk blouse with a leaf and heart design and two prominent red hearts on the collar. Dress has two straps per shoulder and an adjustable belt in back. Measures 12” across the shoulders with 4” sleeves and 26” overall length. Comes with two vintage photographs of Shirley wearing the dress. Near fine condition. With a COA signed by the Shirley Temple estate. Sold for $15,625.
