Hans Christian Andersen Autograph Sold
Hans Christian Andersen was a Danish writer who composed plays, poems, novels, autobiographies, and travel literature. He is most remembered today for his fairy tales including “The Little Mermaid”, “Thumbelina”, “The Ugly Duckling”, and “The Snow Queen”. Today his fairy tales have been translated in over 125 languages. Andersen’s success has been credited to his ability to tell stories from the perspective of a child but he also integrated feelings that a child may not initially identify with. Some of his fairy tales, such as “The Snow Queen” were uplifting, while others were sad and pessimistic. His works appealed to both children and adults due to this quality. Hans Christian Andersen never felt like he belonged or was accepted by society, which he incorporated into some of the narratives of his writings.
