Guy Wiggins Art

Guy Carleton Wiggins was an American impressionist painter and son of landscape painter Carleton Wiggins. He is known for painting many landmarks, street views and scenes of New York City during the snowy winter, which he regularly painted from Manhattan office windows. In 1903, at age 20, Wiggins became the youngest American to have art accepted into the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s permanent collection. Wiggins was a member of the Old Lyme Art Colony in Connecticut and later served as president of the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts.

Guy Carleton Wiggins painting in his quintessential style of New York City in winter. Entitled ”Snow Storm at The Plaza”, oil on canvas board is signed ”Guy Wiggins NA” at lower right. Also signed and titled on the reverse. Measures 16” x 11.75”, in an early frame measuring 16” x 20”. No restoration. An excellent example of Wiggins’ impressionistic work, in very good condition.  Sold for $20,000.
