Margaret Mitchell Gone with the Wind first edition, first printing signed.  Elegantly signed ”Margaret Mitchell” on the front free endpaper in black ink. New York: The MacMillan Co., 1936, with the incorrect publishing date of ”May, 1936” on the copyright page identifying the first printing. Bound in ”Confederate grey” cloth boards, book measures 6” x 8.75”. Minor toning and foxing, separation starting along rear joint, and some damage to backstrip with piece torn (though still present) and staining. Overall very good condition. Sold for $6.050.

Bound in ”Confederate grey” cloth boards, book measures 6” x 8.75”. Light soiling to boards and a nick to top of spine, and pencil notations to signature page. Interior is clean and bright. Overall very good plus condition. With University Archives COA. Sold for $5,625.

Margaret Mitchell autograph on her masterpiece Gone With The Wind first edition, published by Macmillan: New York: 1936, with the May 1936 date on the copyright page. She inscribes the front free endpaper: ”For / Howard Forrest / Margaret Mitchell” in bold black script. Her Pulitzer Prize-winning epic novel, set in the American South during the Civil War and Reconstruction, became the classic film of the same name. Runs 1037pp. Bound in khaki green cloth boards with blue print lettering. Measures 6” x 8.75”. Light staining to front board, wear to exterior edges and cracked interior hinges. Very good overall.  Sold for $5,000.

Elegantly signed ”Margaret Mitchell” on the front free endpaper of this first edition, 16th printing, published in October 1936. In its original dustjacket, housing grey cloth boards. Measures 6” x 9”. Minor shelf wear and toning. Very good. Sold for $4,813.

Margaret Mitchell signed first edition, second printing of her masterpiece ”Gone With The Wind,” published by Macmillan: New York: 1936. She inscribes the front free endpaper: ”Margaret Mitchell” in bold, blue script. Her Pulitzer Prize-winning epic novel, set in the American South during the Civil War and Reconstruction, became the classic film of the same name. Runs 1037pp. Bound in green cloth boards with blue print lettering. Includes original dustjacket with unclipped ”$3.00” tag intact. Some minor tears and chipping to dustjacket, especially along the spine. Book measures 6.25” x 8.75” with minor rubbing and small scratch to spine. Includes original bookseller’s sticker to rear pastedown. Very good plus. A scarce signed first edition of an American classic. Sold for $3,750.
