Formula 1 Memorabilia Auction
Race enthusiasts worldwide know Fernando Alonso as the famed Spanish Formula One racing driver and two-time World Champion currently racing for Scuderia Ferrari.
But to his super-fans, he’s something of a phenomenon.
It’s called Alonsomanía — that fanaticism dedicated to the superstar player with an incredibly loyal fanbase. He became Spain’s first Formula One World Champion and the youngest in the sport’s history at the time in 2005 — that wild success fueled an increase in interest in Formula One in Spain. On 25 September 2005, a huge party began in Alonso’s home town of Oviedo.
The party just won’t stop.
He began his career in his teens winning countless go-kart and second-tier races. In 2001, he moved up to Formula 1, racing for Minardi. He then became the third-youngest rookie in F1 history when he debuted at the Australian Grand Prix.
