She was born in poverty in the rural village of Los Toldos, in the Pampas, as the youngest of five children. In 1934, at the age of 15, she moved to the nation’s capital of Buenos Aires to pursue a career as a stage, radio, and film actress.

On her personal stationery with ”E.P.” gilt-embossed, undated Spanish letter reads in part, ”…Yesterday your father talked with the General and me…about dear Dona Juana…I want to invite you to come to Buenos Aires to work with me at the department. Come, Olinda, I need you here, because you are a Peron and we need a lot of Perons in the government. Please, Olinda…lots and lots of kisses to all from she who never forgets you, Evita”. 2pp. letter measures 10” x 6.5”. Very good condition. Sold for $938.

Madonna screen-worn hat and shoes from ”Evita.” The entertainer extraordinaire wore these in the 1996 biopic as Argentinian First Lady Eva Peron. Lot includes black velvet pump style shoes and asymmetrical black hat with white trim. Hat is by Egbers of New York. Interior band has ”MMM” written in ink. Near fine. Shoes are lined with Dr. Scholl’s cushions and show wear from use, else near fine. With COA from The Prop Store of London and provenance from Profiles in History. Sold for $2,167.

Madonna, together with costumer Penny Rose, broke Elizabeth Taylor’s Guinness World Record for most costume changes in a film, at 85 changes in this film. This is one of the 39 different hats used to crown Madonna in the picture. No label, brand or size is indicated. Hat is lined in black satin with the costumer’s tag pinned to it reading ”Sc 214”.
