Sell Your Dwight Clay Holmes Art
Dwight Clay Holmes was a 20th century American artist who studied art at Texas Christian University and later joined the art department’s faculty. He is most known for painting landscapes with oils but also enjoyed several mediums including sculpting, designing, gold-leafing, ceramics and restoration. As a talented well-rounded artist, he was also commissioned to paint a mural over 60 yards in length at the Jockey Club at Arlington Downs. Following his studies Holmes worked for the Southern Plastic Relief Company creating architectural moldings for buildings across the south and southwest. His work began winning awards beginning at the tender age of 13 and has been shown in exhibits across the country throughout his lifetime.

Texas Landscape by Dwight C. Holmes
Texas landscape by Dwight C. Holmes. Signed at lower left corner. Frequently noted as one of Texas’s finest landscape artists, here Holmes creates a green field peppered with bright autumnal shrubbery under a bright cloud-filled sky. Oil on canvas measures 24″ x 20″; 31″ x 27″ framed. A wonderful piece in fine condition. Sold for $3,114.

Oscar E. Berninghaus Oil on Board Landscape
Framed Oscar Berninghaus oil on board landscape, circa late 1800’s. Painted by the Taos Society of Artists founder, Berninghaus captures a lush morning landscape of Western Rocky Mountains and towering birch trees in his semi-Impressionistic style. The St. Louis, MO native excelled at drawing animals and figures in Southwestern landscapes. Painting, measuring 9″ x 12″, in excellent condition. Sold for $9,350.
Marjorie Reed Western Landscape
Marjorie Reed original landscape painting. Oil on canvas, signed to lower right. Measures 24″ x 20″; 29″ x 25″ framed. Marjorie Reed was born in 1915, the daughter of artist Walter Reed, an illustrator for Walt Disney. She was raised in Los Angeles, but from a young age yearned for the life of the country. After attending the Chouinart Art School and the Art Center school in Los Angeles, she found her most significant tutelage with renowned California landscape artist Jack Wilkinson Smith. She moved dozens of times throughout her adult life, living primarily in Arizona and Southern California. Her paintings often feature stagecoaches, cowboys, horses and other iconography of the west. Horses were a particular passion of Reed’s, an interest she traced to her girlhood dream of living on a ranch. In this painting, she depicts a placid scene of a Native American couple on a pack mule in the midst of a sprawling desert. Light general soiling to canvas. Excellent condition. Sold for $3,267.
Bill Warden’s “River Front Stage”
“River Front Stage” by late Texas artist, Bill Warden. Oil on canvas signed “B. Warden ’77” at lower right corner. After majoring in illustration and design at Texas Tech University, Warden turned his attention to painting and received acclaim for his stunning western and landscape themes. Canvas measures 36″ x 24″. A beautiful depiction of life on the road in the old west. Fine condition. Sold for $2,096.
