Dorothy Parker was a journalist and poet who contributed to magazines such as “Vogue”, “Vanity Fair” and most notably “The New Yorker”. She formed the New York literary group “The Algonquin Round Table” in which artists including Harpo Marx and Edna Ferber were also part of. Parker was also a Hollywood screenwriter, known for 1937’s “A Star is Born” and Hitchcock’s 1942 film “Saboteur”. Parker became involved politics and advocated for human and civil rights. Her involvement in the Communist Party caused her to be blacklisted in Hollywood. Following these events, she completed writing the play “Ladies of the Corridor” in 1953.
