Daniel Stephen Sugerman (October 11, 1954 – January 5, 2005) was the second manager of the Los Angeles-based rock band the Doors. He wrote several books about Jim Morrison and the Doors, including No One Here Gets Out Alive (co-authored with Jerry Hopkins), and the autobiography Wonderland Avenue: Tales of Glamour and Excess.
James Douglas Morrison (December 8, 1943 – July 3, 1971) was an American singer, poet and songwriter who was the lead vocalist of the rock band the Doors. Due to his wild personality, poetic lyrics, distinctive voice, unpredictable and erratic performances, and the dramatic circumstances surrounding his life and early death, Morrison is regarded by music critics and fans as one of the most iconic and influential frontmen in rock history. Since his death, his fame has endured as one of popular culture’s most rebellious and oft-displayed icons, representing the generation gap and youth counterculture.

Very Rare Doors Poster From a 1967 Performance at the Kaleidoscope Club in Hollywood
Original circular hand-pulled silkscreen poster, promoting a three day performance by the up-and-coming band The Doors, at the Kaleidoscope Club in Hollywood on 21-23 April 1967. A series of 20 posters were issued by Kaleidoscope in 1967, one for each concert that year. This dayglo fluorescent poster is considered to be the most rare in the Kaleidoscope series because of the type of ink used by artist John Douglas Kline in production. Posters in this series are almost non-existent because they were issued for promotion only, and the silkscreens used to produce the posters were burned in a fire. The Kaleidoscope was a psychedelic rock venue run by the management of the band Canned Heat. It was only open for roughly six months in 1967, with many memorable bands performing in that brief time. The venue was housed at the Earl Carroll Theater, which was then located at 6230 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, and featured two concentrically rotating stages at the center of the venue. For The Doors performance, the show was moved to a club called Ciros, at 8433 W. Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, (which is now the Comedy Store) since the original location of the club at the Earl Carroll Theatre had yet to be finalized. Circular poster depicts a silhouette of the faces of The Doors, with the band names in psychedelic 60’s font, and is printed in bright shades in a color combination meant to play tricks on the eye, as if looking through a psychedelic kaleidoscope. Previously owned by Alan Brackett, the original bass player in the Peanut Butter Conspiracy, who played with The Doors at this venue, along with The UFO. Poster measures 18.75″ in diameter, with some pinholes around the edge and very minor creasing. Near fine condition. Sold for $3,936.
Very Scarce Jim Morrison Endorsed Check — Dated July 1969 Just After “The Miami Incident” and During Summer of Love With The Doors at Peak of Success
Jim Morrison endorsed check, signed “J Morrison” on the verso of a check from Johnson & Harband Management Account payable to James D. Morrison. Dated 18 July 1969 for $150.00 and signed on the front by Robert L. Greene. Check measures 8.5″ x 3.25″. Matted with a portrait of Morrison on stage and framed, so that both sides may be seen, to an overall size of 20″ x 18.5″. In fine condition, with cancellation stamps to body, and a bank stamp under Morrison’s endorsement. Sold for $3,066.

Scarce Bon Scott Autograph Letter Signed From 1978 — ”…Oh we finished our live album a few weeks ago in New York. I had to re-record about five concerts…” — With Epperson COA
Very rare and lengthy autograph letter signed by Bon Scott, the AC/DC lead singer named #1 ”Greatest Frontmen of All Time” by ”Classic Rock” magazine. Scott writes to a lady friend Valerie while touring in 1978, referencing AC/DC’s live album, a grueling tour schedule, Phil Rudd and much more. Though undated, content dates the letter to 1978 during AC/DC’s ”Powerage” tour, and Scott tells Valerie he’s writing from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, further dating it to late August, 1978. Three pages on three separate sheets, each measuring 7.25” x 10.5”. Folds and a small bit of creasing, else near fine condition. With Roger Epperson COA. Sold for $9,831.
Excellent Beatles signed concert program – without inscription, for a concert held on 25 April 1963 at Fairfield Hall in Croydon, Surrey. On the two-page spread devoted to The Beatles, each of the Fab Four sign next to their photo in blue ballpoint, ”I Love You / Yours / John Lennon / xxx”, ”Love, / Paul McCartney / xxx”, ”George Harrison / xx” and ”Love / Ringo Starr / [star sign]xx”. The event was organized by London concert promoter John Smith, and also featured John Leyton (who cancelled his appearance), The Big Three, Billy Kramer, and several more acts, with The Beatles headlining. Orange program bound by two staples runs six pages and measures 6.875” x 9.5”. Separation starting along bottom seam, and creasing throughout. Small hole to top right of cover. Overall in very good condition. With Roger Epperson COA for all four signatures. A rare uninscribed Beatles concert program, signed at the cusp of their global fame. Sold for $9,375.
The Jimi Hendrix Experience Autographs
Fantastic set of signatures by The Jimi Hendrix Experience, signed by all three, Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding. Hendrix inscribes the note, ”Love always to Maribeth / Stay Sweet / to an Electric lady / Jimi Hendrix”, adding two hearts and dating the signature to 16 November 1968. Mitchell additionally signs ”Best Witches / Mitch *” and Redding signs, ”love / Noel Redding xxx”.
Signatures in pencil are on a piece of ”In flight…American Airlines” stationery, where the recipient, Maribeth, was a stewardess on the band’s flight that day. They were traveling to Cincinnati, Ohio where they were performing that night. Paper measures 7.25” x 10”. Folds and some creasing, and a bit of chipping to right side, otherwise near fine condition. With a COA from Roger Epperson for all three signatures. Sold for $8,236
Keith Richards Signed Letter
1964 autographed letter signed by Keith Richards responding to note from Rolling Stones fan. Composed in red ink, letter reads in part: “Many thanks for your letter and I am sorry I haven’t written before One of my favorite hobbies is sleeping as I don’t get much time for it these days Keith Richards.” Letter measures 5″ x 7.5″. Accompanied by rough draft of the letter Keith is responding to. Mild wear, otherwise very good condition. Sold for $1,515.
