Sell Your Charles Evan Hughes Supreme Court Signed Photo
Charles Evans Hughes was Governor of New York, U.S. Secretary of State and 11th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court between 1930 and 1941. The Hughes Supreme Court coincided with the Great Depression and Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidency. The four conservative justices, known as the “Four Horsemen”, were notorious for turning down many of Roosevelt’s New Deal policies and were opposed by the liberal justices nicknamed the “Three Musketeers”. Some of the notable cases the Hughes Court handled include Near v. Minnesota, United States v. Butler and Cantwell v. Connecticut.
