Buzz Aldrinâs A6L spacesuit glove, worn by Aldrin in 1968 during training for the Apollo 11 mission. Made by International Latex Corp., the A6L spacesuit modified the existing A5L suit by adding an integrated thermal and micrometeroid cover layer. After the Apollo I fire, the A6L was further improved with fire-resistant capability, becoming the A7L which the astronauts wore during the Apollo missions.
Blue and black glove has an integrated label sewn into the glove specifying âE. ALDRINâ for size, with the date of â4/68â. âNASAâ is typed above the ILC manufacturerâs name. Other information, such as Serial, Model and Contract Numbers are also typed in, with the Item line reading âSPEC. CP 2001 / GLOVE ASSEMBLY / PRESSURE PGA LEFT / A6L-103000-09â. A brown velcro and metal strap at the base of the fingers allows for size adjustment. Glove stands on its hard base, designed to screw into the adjoining portion of the spacesuit. Measures 9â tall x 4.5â wide. A few loose strings and some wear to to the material covering the fingers, but overall in very good plus condition, excellent for display. Sold for $17,840.
Apollo 11 Space-Flown U.S. Flag â From the Collection of Buzz Aldrin
American flag flown aboard the historic Apollo 11 mission to the moon, from the collection of Buzz Aldrin. Flag is affixed to certificate reading: âThis flag traveled to the Moon with Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing, July 20, 1969â along with the Apollo 11 mission insignia and the words âOne small step for a man, one giant leap for mankindâ. Flag measures 5.5âł x 4âł and certificate measures 9.75âł x 11.75âł. Handsomely framed in navy blue mat and black wood frame, measuring 16.25âł x 18.5âł. In stunning, near fine condition. Accompanied by an LOA from David Van Zile, Buzz Aldrinâs stepson. Sold for $14,641.
Apollo 11 crew-signed âtype threeâ insurance cover, signed by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. Apollo 11 was the first to produce insurance covers for the families of the astronauts, with three different types of which this is type three. Cover features the Apollo 11 mission insignia, postmark from Kennedy Space Center on 16 July 1969, the day of the launch, and an Apollo 8 six-cent stamp. The signatures of âMichael Collinsâ, âNeil Armstrongâ and âBuzz Aldrinâ prominently appear in blue felt tip. Measures 6.5â x 3.75â. Near fine condition. Sold for $8,750.
Model of the Apollo 11 Command Module signed by the crew: âNeil Armstrongâ, âMichael Collinsâ and âBuzz Aldrinâ. The model was reportedly signed first by Armstrong in the 1980âs, then by Aldrin and Collins at the 2009 Spacefest convention in San Diego, CA. Engraved plaque affixed to the front reads: âFirst Men on The Moon / Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Michael Collins / Apollo 11 July 16 1969 A.D. / A Winning Combinationâ. Lightweight, handcrafted model measures 8.75â in height. Wooden triangular base measures 4.75â across and 7.25â deep. Near fine. Sold for $4,468.
Buzz Aldrin SuperRare Autograph Letter Signed Apollo 11
Wonderful lot of two signed items by astronaut Buzz Aldrin. First is an autograph letter signed by Buzz Aldrin on his Apollo 11 Starcraft Enterprises stationery. Datelined Laguna Beach, 8 November 1995, letter is addressed to âDear Collector of Space Memorabiliaâ and reads in part: ââŚOn July 20, 1969 AD, Neil Armstrong and I fulfilled the ancient dreams of mankind and became the first human beings to walk on the surface of the Moon. We represented not only our own great nation, but also served as ambassadors for the human race. Before departing the Moonâs Sea of Tranquility, Neil and I left a very special plaque affixed to the footpad of our lunar lander. It reads: âWe came in Peace for All Mankindâ. I am pleased personally to autograph this limited edition replica of the original Apollo 11 Lunar PlaqueâŚBuzz Aldrinâ. 9âł x 8âł brass plate affixed to 10.5âł x 13âł wooden plaque is signed âBuzz Aldrinâ and also bears printed signatures of the Apollo 11 astronauts and Richard Nixon. Near fine condition. Sold for $3,200.
