We have sold the following Queen memorabilia:
Queen signed contract to promote their breakout album ”Sheer Heart Attack” featuring their first hit, ”Killer Queen”. Dated 7 January 1975, contract is boldly signed by all four band members: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, John Deacon and Roger Taylor, representing a concert in Queen’s first world tour as a headlining act. Contract with concert promoter Belkin Productions is for the performance on 8 February 1975 at Music Hall in Cleveland, which would be videotaped for later TV and radio broadcasts. Four page contract on two sheets measures 8.625” x 14”. Single fold, not affecting signatures, and light haloing to May and Taylor’s signatures. Overall very good condition. Accompanied by a Promoter pass to the concert and five photos, date-stamped 19 February 1975 on verso, as well as COAs from Belkin Productions and Roger Epperson. Sold for $4,834.
“Queen The Complete Works” Autographed by All Four Band Members — One of 600 in a Signed Limited Edition
“Queen The Complete Works” signed on Album XIV by the entire band: Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. Issued in 1985 by EMI Records, set includes all 14 albums in original box, #009256 of 600 signed copies in the limited edition. Complete with Booklet, Tour Itinerary and Map Poster. Boxed set measures 12.75″ square x 3″ tall. In very good condition with some foxing to interior of box. Poster has some stains on verso. Light wear to a few of the album covers, but signed album is near fine. Overall a very good plus set, rare as complete and signed. Sold for $2,835.

Queen Signed Invitation for a Party at the British Embassy in Budapest During Their 1986 Concert Tour — Twice-Signed by Freddie Mercury — With Roger Epperson COA
Queen signed invitation and envelope in July 1986 during their concert tour for “A Kind of Magic”. Invitation is for a party at the British Embassy in Budapest for the occasion of Queen’s performance there. Envelope with royal crest is twice-signed by Freddie Mercury. Front of invitation is signed by Roger Taylor, Brian May and John Deacon, with Deacon also signing the invitation’s verso. All signatures are inscribed to Gloria, with Deacon adding “’86” to his signature. Accompanied by two concert tickets to the 27 July show. Invitation measures 5.75″ x 4″ and envelope measures 6.25″ x 4.5″. Part of envelope verso is cut away, otherwise near fine condition. With Roger Epperson COA for all signatures. Sold for $2,095.
Holiday card signed by all four original members of the rock band Queen, including lead singer Freddie Mercury. Signing to the inside of the Christmas card are Brian May, John Deacon, Roger Taylor and Freddie Mercury. Card measures 7.5” x 5”. Near fine with only very slight toning. With a COA from Roger Epperson. Sold for $1,000.

Coveted instrument personally owned and played by music legend and 1960’s cultural icon John Lennon. The first time Lennon played an instrument with a keyboard on a record was for his collaboration with McCartney on 1965’s ”I’m Down”, from the B-side to Beatles single ”Help!” Mason and Hamlin brand reed organ, or pump organ, is made of walnut wood and features a dark cherry finish. Accompanied by a slip inscribed, ”Love to Julie / From John Lennon / xxxx” in red ink. Rubber lining on pedals has been replaced. Near fine. A Steinway brand piano of Lennon’s sold at Sotheby’s in 2000 for $2.1 million. Replaced rubber on the foot pedals, else near fine. With provenance from Sotheby’s including original catalog and house-issued certificate of ownership signed by Yoko Ono. Sold for $74,535.
George Harrison’s sitar from 1965, almost certainly the one he used to record ”Norwegian Wood”, the Beatles song that not only launched ”The Great Sitar Explosion” in rock music, but also deepened Harrison’s involvement with Indian music, its culture and the Hindu religion that would shape the rest of his life. More than any guitar that Harrison used during his career with the Beatles and as a solo artist, the sitar is perhaps the instrument most closely associated with Harrison, who was first introduced to it in August of 1965 by David Crosby before buying his own and using it to record ”Norwegian Wood” on 12 October 1965.
Despite Harrison’s misgivings about its sound quality, visually the sitar is a stunning display of craftsmanship, made by the sitar company of Kanai Lal & Brother of Calcutta, and was approximately 10 years old – made in the late 1940s or 1950s – when Harrison played it. Elaborate wood carvings appear on the tumba and tabkandi (similar to the headstock and body of a guitar), with the tumba formed in the shape of a swan’s neck and head. A plaque below the tumba reads, ”Kanai Lal & Brother / 377 Upper Chitpur Road / Calcutta”. Ornamentation at the top of the tabkandi shows an ancient figure playing a sitar, below which wood carvings appear in relief. More elaborate wood carvings appear on the kaddu, a bulbous, gourd-shaped area on the back of the tabkandi which serves as a resonator for the sitar. The sitar measures 53” long, 13” at its widest point and 10” deep at the kaddu. At the top of the kaddu is a label attached by George Drummond, a photo of which is laminated to the back of Pattie Boyd’s LOA, matching her letter to this piece exactly. There are a few cracks to the kaddu, otherwise the sitar is in near fine condition, fully operable and a stunning piece to behold. Sold for $62,500.
Eddie Van Halen Personally Designed, Stage Played & Signed Guitar
Eddie Van Halen personally designed (hand-striped) custom guitar, owned and played onstage by Eddie at the 16 February 2008 show in Jacksonville, Florida. Charvel guitar is signed by Eddie in silver marker, with the Jacksonville concert date also written by him as well as ”Van Halen ’08”. In custom EVH (Eddie Van Halen) Charvel guitar case, and with COA signed by Eddie Van Halen showing serial number of 173, matching EVH plate on guitar. Near fine condition. A fantastic rock collectible personally designed, played and signed by one of the greatest guitar players of all time. Sold for $37,500.
David Crosby’s Own Gibson ES-335 Guitar — From His Days in “The Byrds”
David Crosby’s personally owned and played Gibson guitar, used by Crosby in “The Byrds,” one of the most influential bands of the 1960’s. Crosby’s role in “The Byrds” from the iconic group’s formation in 1964 until his departure in 1967 garnered him his first of two inductions into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Guitar is the widely recognized Gibson ES-335, with a Bigsby Vibrato tailpiece tremolo. Dating to 1958, this model was the first electric guitar to introduce the semi-hollow body design. Neck is one-piece mahogany beneath a rosewood fingerboard with mother of pearl inlays. Measures 16.5″ wide, 20″ long, and 1.75″ deep. Housed in a black hardshell case lined in orange velvet. Scattered nicks and bumping to top of headstock, else near fine. With an LOA from David Crosby. Sold for $25,428.
Jon Bon Jovi Stage Played & Signed Acoustic-Electric Guitar
Jon Bon Jovi’s guitar, played onstage by Jon in Boston on 1 March 2011 during the Bon Jovi Live Tour, and signed in silver marker by him, along with the date played. Takamine acoustic-electric guitar is model EF 341SC, and serial #10110447, housed in Takamine hard-shell guitar case. Lot also includes a Bon Jovi COA, originally sold by the band a charity auction, as well as original glossy 8” x 10” photos of Bon Jovi playing this guitar in Boston, and him signing it. Near fine condition. A fantastic rock collectible. Sold for $21,250.
