Bill McKechnie Autograph Sold

Bill McKechnie was a Major League Baseball player during the dead-ball era as well as a baseball coach and manager. Following his retirement as a player in 1920, he began managing where he found the most success in his baseball career. McKechnie first managed the Pittsburgh Pirtates beginning in 1922 and over the years managed the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston Braves and Cincinnati Reds. He was the first manager to win the World Series with two different teams and is currently still the sole manager to win three National League pennants with different teams. McKechnie was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame as a manager in 1962.

We at Nate D. Sanders Auctions sold a Bill McKechnie autographed ball for $1,882. Here are the item details:

HOF Bill McKechnie Signed Ball PSA

Rare Hall of Famer Bill McKechnie single-signed baseball. Bright white Official League ball signed in ink on the sweet spot and inscribed, “To Wayne, with Best Regards, 6-23-64.” Though McKechnie’s autograph is a staple of many team-signed balls, his lone signature is all but impossible to find. Due to his early death in 1965, just three years after his induction into the Hall of Fame, his autograph is missing from many of the most sophisticated Hall of Fame collections. With both PSA/DNA and JSA Letters of Authenticity. Excellent. Sold for $1,882.
