Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, dated 11 July 1926 when Mussolini served as Italian Prime Minister and also Duce of Fascism. At this time Mussolini was dismantling all checks on his power and recently survived the first assassination attempt on his life. Upon ”Il Capo del Governo” stationery, Mussolini writes, ”Dear Volpi, I have written to [Filippo, Governor of Rome] Cremonesi, telling him that he should accept the cuts assigned to his budget by the Finance Ministry, even if he will have to slow down a little. I have also advised him to disentangle himself – if necessary – from the Municipal Electoral Association, as in the case of Milan. Cordially, / Mussolini / 11 July 1926”. Single page letter on card-style stationery measures 6.75” x 8.5”. Light toning, small punch hole and horizontal fold; overall very good plus condition. Sold for $1,000.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed as Prime Minister and Duce of Fascism — ”…such laborious success in acclimating itself to Fascist Italy!…”

Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, dated 5 August 1926, shortly after Mussolini survived his first assassination attempt and as he consolidated power around himself. Written as Italian Prime Minister and Duce of Fascism, Mussolini writes on ”Head of Government” stationery to his Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi: ”Dear Volpi, It’s necessary to tell Mr. Tedeschi of the Banca Commerciale in no uncertain terms not to play the defeatist with regard to the lira, as the enclosed documents demonstrate. / It is with these systems that the Comit [Banca Commerciale Italiana] has such laborious success in acclimating itself to Fascist Italy! / Cordially, Mussolini”. Single page measures 6.75” x 8.5” on card-style stationery. Small punch hole and horizontal fold, else near fine. Sold for $1,000.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed as Prime Minister and Duce of Fascism — ”…In order to make paying taxes enticing, it’s necessary to simplify…”

Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, dated 2 February 1928 when Mussolini served as Italian Prime Minister and also Duce of Fascism. In this letter to Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, Mussolini discusses taxes and making them ”enticing” to pay. Letter on ”Head of Government” stationery reads in full, ”Dear Volpi, This article, which I call to your attention, demonstrates that the question of the abolition of the tariff on domestic consumption (a remnant or residual from the Middle Ages) is now ripe for decision. / The other article also deserves to be read. In order to make paying taxes enticing, it’s necessary to simplify. / Mussolini / 2 February 1928 – Year VI”. Single page letter measures 8” x 10.75”. Small punch hole and light toning, otherwise near fine condition. Sold for $1,000.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed — ”…to exchange a banknote for gold…”

Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, dated 16 February 1928 when Mussolini served as Italian Prime Minister and also Duce of Fascism. Shortly after this letter, Mussolini enacted his ”Gold for the Fatherland” program, encouraging citizens to donate their gold to the Italian government, which this letter also concerns. Upon ”Il Capo del Governo” stationery, Mussolini writes to his Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, ”Dear Count Volpi, On pages 20 and 128 of the enclosed volume you will find the conditions that the cashiers require in order not to exchange a banknote for gold. / Mussolini / Rome 16 February 1928 – Year VI”. Single page letter measures 8” x 10.75”. Light toning and discoloration, and small punch hole; overall very good plus condition. Accompanied by translation. Sold for $1,000.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed as Prime Minister and Duce of Fascism — ”…sprinkle ‘the rim of the glass with a sweet liquor’…”

Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, dated 25 January 1928 when Mussolini served as Italian Prime Minister and also Duce of Fascism. In this letter to Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, Mussolini writes about liquor and the gift of a flask to Volpi. Upon ”Il Capo del Governo” stationery, he writes, ”Dear Volpi, I am sending you a copy of a letter form His Royal Highness the Duke of the Abruzzi, and in order to sprinkle ‘the rim of the glass with a sweet liquor,’ as Tasso says (but it could also have been Ariosto or Filicaia, Tassoni, Trilussa, Ferravilla), I am also sending you a flask containing the first white sugar refined from Somali sugar cane. The letter is in earnest, despite the tone. It’s necessary to know how to read it. / Mussolini / Rome, 25 January 1928 – Year VI”. Letter on one page of card-style stationery measures 8.25” x 10.75”. Toning, small punch hole and horizontal fold; overall very good plus condition. Sold for $1,000.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed as Prime Minister — ”…It cannot be tolerated that the Fascist Government should be weakened…”

Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, datelined Rome, 3 September 1926 when Mussolini served as Italian Prime Minister and also Duce of Fascism. On ”Minister of Foreign Affairs” stationery, Mussolini writes to his Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, in full, ”Dear Volpi, I am sending you this serious letter from the heroic and unfortunate De Rossi, for you to take action. / It cannot be tolerated that the Fascist Government should be weakened in such a way. / Mussolini / Rome, 3 September 1926”. Mussolini might be referring to De Rossi Del Lion Nero, an Italian Consul stationed in Morocco, when the Rif War between Spain and Morocco was being fought. Single page on card-style stationery measures 7” x 8.75”. Single fold and small punch hole, otherwise near fine condition. Sold for $1,000.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed — ”…the cigarettes…are no longer smokeable…”

Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, undated though circa 1926-27 after Mussolini assumed the title of ”Capo del Governo” or Head of Government. At this time Mussolini was dismantling all checks on his power and recently survived the first assassination attempt on his life. Upon ”Capo del Governo” stationery, Mussolini writes to his Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, ”Dear Volpi, There are very severe complaints circulating about the tobacco products – especially the cigarettes – that they are no longer smokeable, which is a reason for foreign tobacco to come into fashion. I am calling the rumors to your attention, because they are of interest and have to do with the Regia’s [The Regia Manifattura dei Tabacchi] technical reputation. / Mussolini”. Single page letter on card-style stationery measures 5” x 8”. Light toning and horizontal fold; overall very good plus condition. With full translation. Sold for $1,000.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed as Prime Minister and Duce of Fascism — ”…The author is – naturally! – the hunter…”

Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed, date-stamped 2 March 1926, a month before Mussolini survived his first assassination attempt and as he consolidated power around himself. Written as Italian Prime Minister and Duce of Fascism, Mussolini writes on black-bordered ”Head of Government” stationery to his Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi: ”Dear Volpi, If it is true that state assets are administered by your Ministry, the letter I am enclosing falls under your area of responsibility. / The author is – naturally! – the hunter, as well as marquis and honorable etcetera, Giorgio Guglielmi. / Mussolini”. Single page measures 8” x 10.5”. Small punch hole and .25” closed tear along right margin. Very good condition. Sold for $960.

Benito Mussolini Autograph Letter Signed

Interesting Benito Mussolini autograph letter signed with his initial, dated 16 February 1928 when Mussolini served as Italian Prime Minister and also Duce of Fascism. In this letter to Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, Mussolini writes about ”Provvida”, a fund for state employees that was notoriously used as a slush fund for corruption. Upon ”Il Capo del Governo” stationery, Mussolini writes, ”Dear Count Volpi, / I am sending you this information concerning Provvida’s sales. The total annual revenue is in the neighborhood of 70-80 million. / An imposing sum. / M. / 16 February 1928 – Year VI”. Single page letter measures 5” x 8”. Small punch hole, otherwise near fine. With full translation. Sold for $750.

Benito Mussolini letter signed, dated 21 September 1927 when Mussolini served as Italian Prime Minister and also Duce of Fascism. At this time Mussolini was dismantling all checks on his power and recently survived two assassination attempts on his life. Upon ”Il Capo del Governo” stationery, Mussolini writes to his Finance Minister Giuseppe Volpi, chastising displays of wealth during a time of fiscal austerity. He writes, ”The budget conditions demand that the greatest thrift be observed in all services and that expenditures be limited to the strictly indispensable. / This applies particularly to everything having to do with the automobiles at the service of Their Excellencies the Ministers and Undersecretaries of State and the other high officials of the State, for whom it is particularly necessary to observe a line of rigid economy, refraining from overly frequent updates, the acquisition of new types of vehicles, and other innovations. / The example should come from the top. / Mussolini”. Single page letter on card-style stationery measures 8” x 10.5”. Small punch hole and ink blot next to Mussolini’s signature; overall very good plus condition. Sold for $750.

1935 WWII-Dated Document Signed by Axis Leader Benito Mussolini

Official Italian document, dated 16 May 1935, signed by Benito Mussolini and Vittorio Emanuele III as King of Italy. Both king and dictator sign the single page handwritten document on the verso in black pen. Routing marks and filing stamps are present on face of 9.5”x 14.5” document. Overall toning and foxing, and small tears to top edge. Very good condition. Sold for $196.
