The Batsuit From “Batman Returns” Starring Val Kilmer — Measures Over 6′ Tall on Custom Display
The Batsuit from the 1995 hit superhero film “Batman Forever” directed by Joel Schumacher and starring Val Kilmer as Batman. Body of batsuit is in formed black rubber segments covered by the textured integral cape and cowl style mask, with long black leather gloves, boots and black plastic belt and bat symbol. Original parts of the costume from the film are the cowl, cape and body; the gloves, belt, insignia and shoes are replicas for the display. Cowl was likely not worn, but rather displayed in the Batcave scene, and attaches to the cape with velcro. Costume comes displayed dramatically on a mannequin with chiseled face of Kilmer, mounted to a 2′ square gray-white base with “BATMAN FOREVER” at front center. Zipper along the back opens to reveal “K.C. #59″ written in silver ink. Batsuit measures 6’5″ tall including 4″ tall base, and approximately 28” at the widest point of the cape. Light wear and cracking from use, with a few chips to top of insignia, and glue showing at top of cape where it attaches to cowl. Overall in very good plus condition, a stunning display. The Batsuit from Tim Burton’s hit superhero film starring Michael Keaton, “Batman Returns” which smashed box office records when it opened in 1992. Body of batsuit is in formed black rubber segments covered by the textured integral cape and cowl style mask, with long black leather gloves, boots and gold plastic belt and bat symbol. Original parts of the costume from the film are the cowl, cape and body; the gloves, belt, insignia and shoes are replicas for the display. Costume comes displayed dramatically on a mannequin with chiseled face of Keaton, mounted to a 2′ square gray-white base with ”BATMAN RETURNS” at front center. ”Batman Forever” Batman Costume Featuring Cowl, Shoulders, Chest & Iconic Bat Symbol
”Batman Forever” Batman costume featuring the cowl, shoulders, chest, and Bat Symbol used in the 1995 Warner Brothers film, the third entry in the beloved franchise starring Val Kilmer as Batman. Ensemble includes a black foam rubber Batman cowl with black leather flaps (with inner velcro catch); felt-lined shoulders, chest and abdomen (1 piece); and molded resin Bat Symbol chest ornament, all mounted on a display stand with circular base. Outfit was either worn by Kilmer or among the Batman cowls on display in the Batcave in the film. As displayed, measures 46.5” tall and 22” wide across the chest. Screen-worn Batsuit from Tim Burton’s hit superhero film ”Batman Returns”, released in 1992. Batsuit in formed black rubber segments applied to stretchy black fabric includes cowl style mask, gloves and shoes. Long black leather gloves feature metal studded palms. Boots are custom crafted by production. The iconic yellow silhouetted bat symbol is integral to the center of the chest. A label within reads, ”David Lea / Batman No. 6”. David Lea was Michael Keaton’s stunt double in the movie. Costume zips up the back and comes showcased on a mannequin. Batsuit, 60” in total height, measures 22” across the shoulders and 12” across waist, with 31” inseam. Minor chipping to collar and abrasions to shin armor. Near fine overall. Note: Batsuit was originally described as Michael Keaton’s suit from the movie. It has been identified as worn by David Lea, Keaton’s stunt double. Sold for $15,125.
George Clooney screen worn Batman cowl. Hero cowl was donned by Val Kilmer in ”Batman Forever” in 1995. It was modified slightly two years later and worn again by George Clooney in the ”ice” sequence at the end of ”Batman and Robin”. Charcoal and silver cowl is made of supple foam rubber, with a more rigid silver strip running from the crown down the back to the neck concealing a zipper. Measures 19” from the tips of the ears to the lowest point on the bottom. Creasing to the silver areas, especially around the nose, some chipping to paint on the nose and a scratch above the right eye, else near fine. Obtained directly from Warner Brothers. Sold for $10,780.
Prop pengiun from ”Batman Returns”. Rubber penguin with resin rocket strapped to its back is one of the penguin army called upon by Danny DeVito’s villain, The Penguin. Black latex-coated penguin is painted with white and silver to the bindings. Rocket is painted red and white. Shaped wire has also been added. Measures 10” across x 19” high x 15” deep. Orson Welles Screen-Used Trophy From ”Citizen Kane” — the Iconic Trophy That Orson Welles Holds During the Film, Symbolizing the Height of Kane’s Power & Ambition — Measures 1.5 Feet Tall
The rarest and most spectacular of all “Citizen Kane” props, the silver-plated trophy presented to Orson Welles as Charles Foster Kane, which he holds in the critical scene upon his return from Europe, flush from acquiring diamonds and his first wife. This trophy is the singular one manufactured for the film (unlike the Rosebud sled, of which three were made), thus guaranteeing its use in the film, held by Welles himself as Kane. The trophy was given to Kane by the employees of his newspaper, which grew from a handful when Kane acquired the near-bankrupt “Inquirer,” to 467 at this point in the film. Trophy is engraved, “Welcome Home / Mr. Kane / From / 467 Employees / of the / New York / Inquirer”. Of course, this trophy also highlights the lack of real journalistic achievement by Kane’s tabloid newspaper, and rather the heaps of praise bestowed upon him by employees and sycophants. The scene in which it first appeared was considered so crucial to the film and so difficult to execute that Gregg Toland, “Citizen Kane’s” Oscar-winning cinematographer, considered it the proudest achievement of his career. The trophy appears once more in the film, at the end with Kane’s other possessions at Xanadu. In this scene, Jerry Thompson, the reporter, and Raymond, Kane’s butler, talk about the meaning of Rosebud while standing over the trophy; they even read the wording on the trophy during this scene. Silver-plated loving cup trophy measures a very impressive 17.5″ tall and 16.75″ wide, with scrolling leaf-clad handles and scrolling base, manufactured by the Barbour Silver Company. Though “Citizen Kane” is widely considered the greatest film of all time (having won “Best Film of the Decade” for two decades by both the AFI and BFI), it only won one Academy Award for screenwriting — a consequence of William Randolph Hearst’s blacklisting in his theatres. Its popularity and significance has steadily risen since its release in 1941, a time when movie studios retained very few of their movie props. As a result, only a handful of “Citizen Kane” props have come to market, with almost all of them from the final warehouse scene at Xanadu and having no significance to the film’s plot. This trophy, along with the Rosebud sleds and the snow globe (which has never been available and is considered lost or broken) are the handful of important props in the film. It is truly the most magnificent “Citizen Kane” screen-used prop one could ever hope to own, from the Golden Age of Hollywood that included such films as “Casablanca” and “Gone With the Wind.” Previous Christie’s auction provenance is also included. Some silver tarnishing to the trophy, and light wear, but overall in near fine condition.
The only two Academy Awards won by “Citizen Kane” (for Best Original Screenplay co-awarded to Orson Welles and Herman Mankiewicz) sold at Nate D. Sanders Auctions for $861,542 and $588,455. Several other “Citizen Kane” lots are included in this auction including memorabilia related to the trophy cup. Sold for $275,544.
Original Captain Kangaroo’s Bunny Rabbit & Mr. Moose Puppets Obtained Directly from Bob Keeshan
The original Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit puppets obtained from Bob Keeshan aka Captain Kangaroo and used in production of his beloved and long-running series. The only other known pair were donated to the Smithsonian, making these the only Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit in private hands. Happily, Moose and Rabbit were impeccably cared for, having been professionally archived to museum standards for the last 25 years in a climate and humidity-controlled facility and are in superb condition. Custom-made Mr. Moose hand puppet features a chocolate brown plush body and sleeve with a structured head and snout. Moose’s eyes are cleverly constructed of ping pong ball halves (Moose was well-known for a recurring gag featuring falling ping pong balls) that are hand painted by production and adorned with long false eyelashes and fastened to the face with stick pins. The ears are lined in red fabric, and the mouth is lined with felt in a burnt orange color. Solid antlers are covered with mustard yellow felt. The upper portion of the head is covered in a slightly lighter brown plush than the body, sleeve and ears. Mr. Moose measures 29” in total height, 21” from antler tip to antler tip and 12.5” from the tip of the snout to the back of the head. Mr. Moose puppet retains a rich sheen to the fur with but a few tiny stains to Moose’s left antler and a tiny area of tearing to right antler at the edge. Toning to eyeballs and hand touch-ups by production artists to the paint on the eyes, else fine. Custom-made Bunny Rabbit hand puppet is constructed chiefly of the plush material used by classic toymaker Steiff. Plush body and arms are fawn color throughout, darkening to a rich caramel color at the middle of the back. Chocolate-tipped ears are lined with a flat beige fabric that appears to have been tinged with a blush color toward the innermost region. Solid formed head features variation in plush texture, with slightly longer fur around the sides. Gleaming orange eyes with light brown irises are set on the sides of the head. The down-turned v-shaped mouth is embroidered in red thread and extends up to the nose, which has been embellished with a hammered metal button. Five clear whiskers fan out from each side of the snout. Bunny Rabbit wears a pair of custom-made red acrylic cat-eye style glasses with applied silver glitter, his trademark accoutrement throughout the run of the series, and they are secured with a pin at center. An additional segment of matching plush has been sewn on to the bottom to extend the length of Bunny Rabbit for greater freedom in manipulating the puppet for filming. Measures 9” from paw to paw and 17” from the top of the head to the bottom of the sleeve. Slight toning to ear lining and a 0.5” separation to the seam is present below the arm on the puppet’s right, else fine. The beloved and often mischievous Mr. Moose and Bunny Rabbit were created and played by puppeteer and performer Cosmo Allegretti, and his other iconic character, Dancing Bear, was sold by Nate D. Sanders Auctions earlier this year for over $200,000. True fixtures of cultural history spanning generations, these characters engaged Captain Kangaroo and the American viewing public over four distinctive decades of American television. Sold for $224,579.
Screen-worn Dancing Bear costume from Captain Kangaroo. Finely handcrafted costume includes the giant plush head and one-piece body suit. The darling character was played by its inventor, Cosmo Allegretti, save for a few years early in the program when Don Watts inhabited the costume. Bear’s head is decorated in felt and velour with a black satin bow around the neck. Ears are wired for shape and rim is lined in padded leather. Fuzzy brown body suit is fully lined and features a shaped padded belly, enclosed mitten hands and built-in feet. Zips up the back under a Velcro closure, with a single hook and eye closure at the top. Both head and body feature discreet mesh ventilation sections. Dancing Bear’s head measures 18” across, 22.5” in height and 15” deep. Body measures 61” in height and 25” across the chest with a 24” inseam. Some overall wear and dust to hefty costume and separation to sole of left shoe, else near fine. A very special one-of-a-kind piece of Captain Kangaroo. Sold for $207,019.
Kate Winslet Screen-Worn Coat From ”Titanic” — Worn During Her Dramatic Scenes of the Ship Sinking
Kate Winslet screen-worn coat from ”Titanic”. James Cameron directed Winslet in the 1997 blockbuster, in which she starred as the wealthy Rose DeWitt Bukater, star-crossed lover to Leonardo DiCaprio’s working class character Jack. Winslet is dressed in the pink coat during the scenes when the ship begins to sink. Staining to lower portion of silk lining due to this partial submergence during filming, else near fine. Extensive provenance includes a two year paid exhibition in a Titanic museum and write-up in the USA Today newspaper. Also with a COA from Twentieth-Century Fox, indicating that this coat was worn by Kate Winslet ”on deck during sinking scenes”, as well as an LOA from Salvador Perez, the Costume Manufacturing Foreman on ”Titanic,” confirming that this coat was screen-worn by Winslet in the film. A beautiful wardrobe piece from one of the most important sequences in ”Titanic,” the second highest grossing film of all time. Sold for $164,520.
Mark Hamill’s Screen-Worn Hero Pants in the Original 1977 ”Star Wars” as Luke Skywalker
Screen-worn ”hero” costume pants worn by Mark Hamill in his career-defining role as Luke Skywalker in the 1977 epic film ”Star Wars”, the first in the groundbreaking trilogy. As one of the top-grossing films of all time, George Lucas’ first film in the successful series won six Oscars, among many other awards. In a galaxy far, far away, Hamill donned these iconic pants as the Jedi Knight of all Jedi Knights, wearing the costume pants throughout much of the film. Sand-colored ”cotton drill” Levi’s pants are purposely distressed to display wear, with dirt to back right pocket and in spots to front of pant legs. In fact, in an accompanying article, Mark Hamill said of the pants, ”By the way, those pants I wore were just bleached Levi’s with the tag still in them.” Pants measure 29” waist x 37” in length with two 6” slits up each side. Customized by the famous London costumier, Bermans & Nathans, original tag sewn to inseam reads: ”Bermans & Nathans / 40 Camden St., / London N.W. 1” tag with a ”Mark Hamill / 10490 Luke / Star Wars” printed in type beneath it. Very good condition overall. Also with tags attached from both Christie’s, where the pants were originally auctioned, and Sotheby’s, from its 1998 auction. Sold for $60,000.
”RoboCop” OmniCorp Screen-Used Prop Body Parts From the Successful 2014 Remake of The Cult Classic
”RoboCop” screen-used prop body parts from the 2014 remake of the film. Parts are for the EM 208 OmniCorp robot. Includes four separated pieces: (1) EM-208 head, with molded features painted, as well as a high gloss foam coating. Silver and black in color, measures 8” x 8.5” with a 12” depth. (2) EM-208 torso as one full piece. Again with a high gloss coating. Molded features include a spinal column, immobile pistons, as well as other mechanical attachment pieces. Measures 14” x 30” with a 10” depth. Measures 7.8 pounds. (3) Two EM-208 legs, one left and one right leg, each in a high gloss coating. Left leg has two metal cord straps attached to the top for hanging and attachment purposes. Foot measures 6” x 13” together with the leg, 41” in height. Each leg weighs 8.4 pounds. Entire set weighs approximately 25 pounds. Minor wear, else near fine. With a COA from MGM. Sold for $25,000.
Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith screen-worn black suits and prop weapons from ”Men in Black II”. Extensive lot from the hit UFO franchise includes the iconic black suits worn by Tommy Lee Jones as Agent Kay and by Will Smith as Agent Jay. Pair of suits were tailor-made for the actors by acclaimed costume designer John David Ridge. ”Mr. Tommy Lee Jones” is typed to the labels of his jacket and pants, as is ”Mr. Will Smith” on the labels of his jacket and pants. Both suits include a white cotton dress shirt, custom made by Anto of Beverly Hills. Shirts feature monograms embroidered in blue thread to the labels, ”T.L.J.” and ”W.S.”, respectively. Shirt labels are dated June 2001 in type. Ensembles are complete with unlabeled black neckties and velvet pocket squares. Wardrobe is accompanied by the pieces de resistance, Agent Kay & Jay’s giant alien-blasting weapons. Impressive pieces are made of solid rubber finished in silver paint. Agent Kay’s single-barrel weapon in silver, with green at the top measures a whopping 40” in length. Agent Jay’s tri-barrel weapon measures 31.5”. Will Smith’s jacket and trousers feature small holes for his wire harness to pass through, with labels inscribed ”Harness” in ink, and the letters ”FC” are handwritten to his shirt label. Joan Crawford’s hero dress from her magnum opus, “Mildred Pierce”. Joan Crawford currently ranks in the American Film Institute’s top ten actresses in the history of cinema. Polka-dot dress is worn by Crawford in the film’s promotional posters, in a still captured from the scene in the beginning of the film when she goes on a date, set at the Malibu beach house of her scheming beau Monte Beragon. Rayon dress, originally white, has since been dyed to a flesh tone color, with polka dots in a darker nude shade. Design features a slightly A-line cut shirt, long sleeves, pleated bodice and square neckline flanked by a simple bow on either side. A Warner Bros. Pictures label is sewn into the placket and has a hand note, “B – 2nd Dress / 18905-638”. Written inside the top in black felt tip is the note, “TBS / 209”. Dress fastens up the back and at the waistline with alternating snaps and hook-and-eye closures, also found at the cuffs. Discreet side zipper is placed over the hip. Likely altered for use in a later Warner Brothers film, dress measures 17.75″ from underarm to underarm, with 21″ sleeve and a petite 11″ across the waist. Original self-belt is absent; dress is accompanied by later grosgrain belt in brown with a cream stripe through the center. Scattered pinholes and stray threads, else near fine. A stunning piece worn by Crawford in her triumphant comeback role, where she delivered what is considered one of the Best Actress performances of all time. Provenance from Warner Brothers. Leonardo DiCaprio Signature Wardrobe from the 1997 Epic “Titanic” — Corduroy Trousers & Knit Shirt
Wardrobe made for Leonardo DiCaprio’s character the 1997 epic “Titanic”. Two-piece ensemble comprises (1) an oversize putty color long-sleeved cotton shirt with a bib detail of tan striped fabric. Measures 24″ across the chest. Light pilling, else near fine. (2) bronze corduroy trousers made by Dominic Gherardi, custom tailor for the movie, labeled “Leonardo DiC / Jack #2”. Trousers close with a button fly and waistband features buttons for suspenders. “Leonardo” label has detached from tailor’s label, else near fine. Costume has the original Fox Studio hang tags. Superman Hero Costume Worn by Christopher Reeve in the 1978 Superman Film
Very rare Superman “muscle tunic” worn by Christopher Reeve during filming of “Superman: The Movie”, the very first film of the beloved Christopher Reeve franchise, released in 1978. Tunic used in the flight scenes features two stitched holes on the sides, used to attach the flying harness. Four snaps at top are for attaching the cape. Signature blue tunic is made complete with Superman’s large emblematic gold and red “S” sewn onto the front. The original “Bermans & Nathans / 40 Camden St. / London N.W. 1” tag is still intact on the tunic’s inner back collar, next to the zipper, with the label reading in type: “CHRISTOPHER REEVE / 12312 WITH MUSCLES / SUPERMAN”. Made of special nylon fabric, used for its stretch and ability to retain its original shape. Without being stretched, tunic measures 18″ across the chest and 29″ long. A few small holes, otherwise in near fine condition. With Prop Store COA. Sold for $20,250.
Bruce Lee screen-worn suede suit from ”The Lost Interview”, the only English television interview that Lee gave, for The Pierre Breton Show on 9 December 1971. The interview was thought to be lost to history until it reemerged in 1994, and in it, Lee gives many of his famous statements including ”I have no fear”, and ”Be water, my friend.” He continues, ”Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. Now, you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash! Be water, my friend”.
Attractive two-piece suit comprises a jacket and matching pair of trousers in chestnut brown suede with contrasting bronze stitching. Fully-lined jacket hits below the hip, snaps up the front and features a pocket positioned diagonally at the left breast. A Coronet Leatherware brand label is sewn to the interior pocket. Measures 17.5” across the chest. Two-pocket trousers feature a zip front and two snap closure, measuring 30” in the waist, with a 30” inseam. Jacket is near fine and trousers show a few tiny stains to the back and some unraveling of thread at left hip pocket, else near fine. From the collection of Herb Jackson, well-documented as Lee’s first generation Jeet Kune Do protege, builder of custom martial arts training equipment for Lee and ultimately his good friend. Lee gifted the suit to Jackson at the time of filming ”Return of the Dragon”, when the latter went to visit him on location in Hong Kong. With a COA from Jackson’s son.

Shirley Temple screen-worn heart dress, worn as ”Penny” in the 1938 film ”Just Around the Corner”. Designed by Gwen Wakeling, the blue wool dress is pleated and has three hearts on the chest. Attached is a matching short sleeve silk blouse with a leaf and heart design and two prominent red hearts on the collar. Dress has two straps per shoulder and an adjustable belt in back. Measures 12” across the shoulders with 4” sleeves and 26” overall length. Comes with two vintage photographs of Shirley wearing the dress. Near fine condition. Screen-Used Ralph McQuarrie Original Model of Star Trek’s USS Enterprise From 1976
At the time of this model, McQuarrie was completing work on “Star Wars”, whose influence has been noted here, specifically, its similarity to the Star Destroyers of “Star Wars”. The design of this model is also the inspiration for the redesigned USS Discovery starship in 2017’s “Star Trek: Discovery”. Ship measures 15″ x 8″ wide, made of wood and plastic and with tape and ink accents. Professional repair where nacelle pylons meet the secondary hull, overall in very good condition, stunning for display.
