Exceptionally large and rare United States flag flown aboard Apollo 12, and included on the lunar module Intrepid when it landed on the Moon in November 1969. Flag measures 18” x 11.5”, one of the largest Apollo flown flags, affixed to presentation mat measuring 20” x 16”. Mat is signed by Apollo 12 Command Module Pilot Richard Gordon, above a note stating, ”Sailed With Yankee Clipper / And Intrepid to the Ocean of Storms / November 1969”. Mild show-through of glue on flag; overall, entire presentation is near fine. From the estate of Richard Gordon. Sold for $15,000.
Apollo 12 Flown U.S. Flag, Measuring 11.5” x 8″, Affixed to Presentation Mat Signed by Each of the Apollo 12 Crew Members: Charles Conrad, Richard Gordon & Alan Bean — From Richard Gordon Estate
Large American flag, measuring 11.5″ x 8″, flown to the moon aboard Apollo 12, and affixed to presentation mat signed by the entire Apollo 12 crew. Mat, measuring 16″ x 18″, is additionally dedicated by Command Module Pilot Richard Gordon: “Flown to the moon on Apollo XII! / Charles Conrad Jr. / Richard F. Gordon Jr. / Alan Bean”. Also affixed to mat is an Apollo 12 crew souvenir patch measuring 4″ in diameter, possibly flown. Light uniform toning to mat and mild show-through of glue on edges of cloth flag. Flag is bright and displays beautifully, overall in near fine condition. From Richard Gordon estate. Sold for $6,909.
United States flag flown to the moon on the Apollo 12 mission, with crew-signed presentation. Flag measuring 6” x 4” is affixed to board signed, ”Charles Conrad Jr.”, ”Dick Gordon” and ”Alan L. Bean”, framed with Apollo 12 patch and label reading ”Sailed With Yankee Clipper / and Intrepid to the Ocean of Storms / November 1969”. Frame measures 11” x 16”. Minute toning to board and some fading to Bean’s signature, else near fine condition. Sold for $5,500.

Flag measuring 5.75” x 3.75” is affixed to certificate signed, ”Charles Conrad Jr.”, ”Dick Gordon” and Alan Bean”. Certificate reads, ”This flag was carried to the moon by the crew of Apollo 12 / November 19, 1969 / Ocean of Storms”. Certificate measures 7” x 9.75”. Pinholes at corners and some moisture staining, otherwise very good condition.

United States flag flown to the moon on the Apollo 12 mission, presented to NASA Flight Controller Edward Beatty, with his Apollo 12 NASA badge included as provenance. Flag measuring 5.5” x 3.75” is affixed to board reading ”This flag was carried to the moon by the crew of Apollo 12 / November 19, 1969 Ocean of Storms”. Board measures 9” x 12” and matting measures 12.5” x 15.5”. Light toning to board and approximate 2.5” x 2” incision to board at edge of flag, which mostly covers it. Flag size is slightly irregular. Overall very good condition. Sold for $2,813.
Apollo 12 Space-Flown American Flag — Mounted to a Certificate Signed by the Entire Crew
Apollo 12 space-flown American flag, with certificate signed by the crew. Flown flag is mounted to a large certificate signed along its bottom edge, ”Charles Conrad”, ”Dick Gordon” and ”Alan L Bean”. An inscription by an unknown hand reads, ”To Bill, Many thanks for your support of the Apollo XII Mission”. Printed text of the COA captions the flag, ”This flag sailed to the moon on Yankee Clipper, the second manned lunar landing. / APOLLO 12 / November 14-24, 1969”. Cloth flag measures 6” x 4” and certificate measures 9.75” x 11.75”. Toning, two small areas of adhesive residue at edges and fading to Conrad’s signature, with very minor show through of adhesive at flag corners. Overall very good plus. Sold for $2,500.
Apollo twelve space-flown West Virginia flag, with COA signed by the crew. Flown flag is mounted to a large COA signed along its bottom edge, ”Charles Conrad”, ”Dick Gordon” and Alan L Bean”. Printed text of the COA captions the flag, ”This flag sailed to the moon on Yankee Clipper, the second manned lunar landing. / APOLLO 12 / November 14-24, 1969”. Bean additionally inscribes, ”To Rosalie & Ron – With our very best wishes – It was a fantastic mission.” Cloth flag measures 6.25” x 4” and certificate measures 9.75” x 11.75”. Toning to COA and some fading to signatures, especially Conrad’s, else near fine.
