What Are Apollo 11 Robbins Medallions?
Robbins medals are highly collectible space-flown mementos from space flights that began with the Apollo missions. Apollo 11 Robbins medals tend to be among the most coveted memorabilia due to the momentous nature of the flight amid the space race. We’ve sold several Apollo 11 Robbin’s medals personally owned by NASA crew members.
Some of the Apollo 11 Flown Robbins Medallions We’ve Sold:
Jack Swigert’s Apollo 11 Flown Robbins Medallion — Sold for $42,000
Robbins medals were purchased by crew and staff rather than being issued or gifted by NASA. Medals were often carried by astronauts in their Personal Preference Kits during flights. Post-flight, these one-of-a-kind medals were given to friends, family and supporters. We sold an Apollo 11 flown Robbins medal owned by Apollo 13 astronaut Jack Swigert for $42,000. Medal is serial number 179 and measures 1.25 inches in diameter.

Apollo 11 Robbins Medallion Owned By Buzz Aldrin — Sold for $37,813
The design of the Apollo 11 Robbins medal, which consists of an eagle holding an olive brand landing on the moon, was created by Michael Collins. NASA slightly modified Collins’s original design for the official mission patch. We sold an Apollo 11 Robbins medal, with serial number 257, and owned by Buzz Aldrin for $37,813. Robbins medal was given directly by Buzz Aldrin to the previous owner Bill Tow upon the death of Bill’s father, John Tow, when he was 10 years old.

Apollo 11 Robbins Medallion Owned By Buzz Aldrin — Sold for $37,500
Robbins medals were first created for Apollo 7 and are still affiliated with American human-piloted space flights. The Robbins Company of Massachusetts produces these medals, which are mostly in sterling silver and a very limited amount of gold medals are created for the crews. We realized $37,500 for an Apollo 11 Robbins medal originally owned by Buzz Aldrin, with serial number 378.

Apollo 11 Robbins Medallion Owned By Buzz Aldrin — Sold for $34,375
The front of a Robbins medal typically contains the mission insignia while the reverse contains the launch, landing and return dates of the mission, serial number and sometimes the names of crew members. Apollo 11 Robbins medals do include the last names of crew members. We sold an Apollo 11 Robbins medal, with a low serial number of 60, owned by Buzz Aldrin for $34,375. Medal was given directly to the consignor by Buzz Aldrin in 1969.

Jack Swigert’s Apollo 11 Robbins Medallion — Sold for $34,375
Jack Swigert served as the backup for Michael Collins on Apollo 11 and communicated with the crew as a Capsule Communicator. We realized $34,375 for an Apollo 11 Robbins medal owned by Jack Swigert.
