Apollo 10 U.S. Flag & Patch Flown to The Moon
US flag and Apollo 10 patch flown to the moon. Items are mounted to a COA signed in print (not authentically autographed) by Tom Stafford, Gene Cernan and John Young. Flag measures 6” x 4”, embroidered patch measures 3.75” x 4.25” and COA measures 13.5” x 9.5”. Framed to an overall size of 18” x 14.75”. Near fine. Sold for $4,375.
Apollo 10 Flown American Flag — Affixed to an Official NASA Certificate Signed By Its Astronauts
American flag flown aboard the Apollo 10 mission. The successful test-run helped to prepare for the upcoming Apollo 11 mission without actually landing on the moon, though coming within 8 miles of the lunar surface. 6” x 4” cloth flag is affixed to an official NASA certificate signed by each crew member in felt ink, ”Tom Stafford”, ”John Young” and ”Gene Cernan”. A printed caption reads: ”This flag traveled on Apollo X with the first LM [Lunar Module] to the moon”. An additional inscription by an unknown hand reads, ”To Bill Grunert – Our Sincere Thanks For All Your Help / The Crew of Apollo X”. Certificate measures 9.75” x 11.75”. Some show through of adhesive to flag corners and toning, else near fine. Sold for $3,355.
Jack Swigert’s Personally Owned Apollo 10 Flown Robbins Medal — Serial Number 25 — From Jack Swigert’s Estate
Space-flown Apollo 10 Robbins medal, serial number 25. Medal is one of just 300 flown on the mission, which served as a trial run of the Apollo 11 moon landing mission. Sterling silver medal in the shape of a shield bears the crew’s surnames along the border under the mission insignia, which is cast in relief and depicts the lunar surface supporting a giant Roman numeral “X”. Reverse of coin is flat and engraved, “May 18-26, 1969 / 25 / Sterling r”. Measures slightly over 1″ across and 1.25″ in height. Weighs 14 grams. Housed in original case with serial number sticker on underside. Light tarnishing and scratching to reverse, else near fine. With an LOA from Jack Swigert’s estate. Sold for $3,119.
