Andy Warhol Signed Screenprint Poster From 1981
Andy Warhol (/ˈwɔːrhɒl/; born Andrew Warhola; August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) was an American artist, film director, and producer who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. His works explore the relationship between artistic expression, advertising, and celebrity culture that flourished by the 1960s, and span a variety of media, including painting, silkscreening, photography, film, and sculpture. Some of his best known works include the silkscreen paintings Campbell’s Soup Cans (1962) and Marilyn Diptych (1962), the experimental films Empire (1964) and Chelsea Girls (1966), and the multimedia events known as the Exploding Plastic Inevitable (1966–67).
Andy Warhol screenprint poster of Kimiko Powers, signed by both Warhol and Powers. The original portrait was commissioned by Powers, completed in 1972 and then selected for Warhol’s Colorado State University Exhibition in 1981, with 250 screenprints made as advertising support. Both Warhol and Powers attended the show and held an autograph session. Powers signs her name and inscribes “To Cindy” in Japanese, whereas Warhol simply signs his full name. Poster was printed by Licht Editions in Denver and published by the Colorado State University Department of Art in Fort Collins, Colorado. Measures 25″ x 35″. Very minor wear to edges and minor discoloration to white areas. Color is vibrant and signatures are large and bold. Very good condition. Sold for $2,075.
