Amos Wilson Rusie (May 30, 1871 – December 6, 1942), nicknamed “The Hoosier Thunderbolt”, was an American right-handed pitcher in Major League Baseball during the late 19th century. He had a 10-season career in the National League (NL), which consisted of one season with the Indianapolis Hoosiers in 1889, eight with the New York Giants from 1890 to 1898, and one with the Cincinnati Reds in 1901.

Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig autograph photograph. 5″ x 7″ black and white image depicts the two Yankee greats standing side by side on the baseball field wearing their pinstripe pants. Inscribed by Ruth in brown ink at the upper left, “For Walter from, ‘Babe’ Ruth” beside which Gehrig signs in black ink, “& Lou Gehrig”. Small .25″ tear (with no emulsion loss) at top, not affecting either signature, else fine. A difficult to acquire pairing of legendary signatures on a single photograph. A Babe Ruth signature with the quotation marks around “Babe” typifies his pre-1928 autograph and will sell at a higher value as well. Sold for $19,036.

Beautiful 1978 LA Dodgers National League Championship ring awarded to former National League President Charles “Chub” Feeney. Led by Steve Garvey and Ron Cey, the Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 3 games to 1 to win the National League pennant, before succumbing to a legendary New York Yankees team in 6 games in the 1978 World Series. Awarded a Championship ring was National League President Charles “Chub” Feeney, who presided as President during a lengthy period of stability during which the league neither expanded nor relocated a franchise. Manufactured by Jostens, 10kt white gold ring features Los Angeles Dodgers logo with one small diamond inset to logo with “National League Champions / 1978” written to perimeter of the face. Relief of bat and ball logo with Feeney’s facsimile signature is engraved to left shank. Relief of scoreboard from Dodger Stadium with “3.347.845” written – symbolizing Dodger Stadium attendance that year, appears on right shank. Measures 0.75″ in diameter. Ring is size 9.5. Near fine. With an LOA from Charles Feeney’s son. Sold for $2,750.

1937 World Champion Yankees Team Signed Baseball — Including Signature by Lou Gehrig on the Sweet Spot — With JSA COA
Team signed baseball by the 1937 New York Yankees, who would win the World Series that year. Features 26 signatures, including Lou Gehrig on the sweet spot and Hall of Famers Tony Lazzeri, Charles “Red” Ruffing and Bill Dickey. Also signed by Jake Powell, Myril Hoag, Red Rolfe, Bump Hadley, Tom Henrich, George Selkirk, Johnny Murphy, Frank Makosky, Joe Glenn, Coach Johnny Schulte, Jack Saltzgaver, Paul Andrews, Kemp Wicker, Paul Schreiber, Art Jorgens, Don Heffner, Monte Pearson and Joe Vance. Four of the signatures are clubhouse: Joe DiMaggio, Lefty Gomez, Manager Joe McCarthy and Pat Malone. In good condition with overall toning to the ball, though nearly every signature still remains dark and legible. Accompanied by JSA COA, including an authentication report showing where each player signed on the ball. Sold for $2,835.
Very Early Baseball Collectible — 19th Century Baseball National League Pass — 1894
The American Association (AA) was a professional baseball league that existed for 10 seasons from 1882 to 1891. Together with the National League of Professional Base Ball Clubs (“National League” – N.L.), founded earlier in 1876, the new AA participated in an early version of the World Series seven times versus the champion of the NL in an interleague championship playoff tournament. At the end of its run, several AA franchises joined the NL. After 1891, the NL existed alone, with each season’s champions being awarded the prized Temple Cup (1894-1897).
Baseball National League & American Association pass from 1894. Issued and signed by Edward Talcott, owner of the New York Giants, pass grants its holder: ”Privileged Entree To All Parks”. Double-sided pass is partially-printed and hand-addressed to ”J.V.S. Oddie”. Pale green face with beige verso. Measures 4” x 2.5”. Some surface loss to upper left corner, else near fine. A rare artifact from the earliest days of major league baseball in America. Sold for $1,477.
