Alexei Arkhipovich Leonov (30 May 1934 – 11 October 2019) was a Soviet and Russian cosmonaut, Air Force major general, writer, and artist. On 18 March 1965, he became the first person to conduct a spacewalk, exiting the capsule during the Voskhod 2 mission for 12 minutes and 9 seconds. He was also selected to be the first Soviet person to land on the Moon although the project was cancelled.

American flag flown aboard the historic Apollo 11 mission to the moon, presented on a certificate signed by the Apollo 11 crew: Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins. Official NASA certificate with the Apollo 11 insignia reads: “This flag traveled to the moon with Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing, July 20, 1969”. Hand-signed in felt pen, “Neil Armstrong”, “Michael Collins” and “Buzz Aldrin”. Flag measures 6″ x 4″, affixed to certificate measuring 9.5″ x 11.5″ and framed to an overall size of 15″ x 17″. Scarce Neil Armstrong signed poster entitled ”Man on the Moon”, the famous photograph taken by Armstrong showing Buzz Aldrin on the moon with Armstrong reflected in Aldrin’s visor. Armstrong boldly signs the poster in black marker, providing a stunning presentation measuring 20.25” x 27.75”. Poster is archivally paper backed, with creasing smoothed and indiscernible closed tear repaired at top. Very good plus condition. With a COA from Steve Zarelli Space Authentication. Sold for $18,750.

Poster of three children gazing upward at the moon is commemorated by the autographs of 18 Apollo astronauts including 8 moonwalkers: Charles Conrad, Ron Evans, Stu Roosa, Dick Gordon, Charlie Duke, Michael Collins, Walt Cunningham, Jim Lovell, Buzz Aldrin, Don Eisele, Bill Anders, Alan Bean, Jim Irwin, Al Worden, Rusty Schweickart, Alan Shepard, Gene Cernan and Jack Schmitt. From the collection of Jibby Sidwell, President of American Spaceweek, who donated the poster to her children’s school auction in 1987, accompanied by the auction donation form. ”Printed by Metro-Graphics, Inc. Rare and fantastic signed book, “The Astronauts: The Story of Project Mercury, America’s Man-in-Space Program” by Martin Caiden. First edition, second printing published in 1960. Volume is boldly signed and inscribed on front free endpaper: “To Edward Miller / With Best Wishes from / the Mercury Astronauts”. Signed by all Mercury 7 astronauts in ink: “Virgil S. Grissom”, “M. Scott Carpenter”, “Leroy G. Cooper Jr.”, “John A. Glenn, Jr.”, “Walter M. Schirra, Jr.”, “Alan B. Shepard” and “Donald K. Slayton”. Accompanied by original dustjacket.
