Barack Obama Signed as President Leaderboard for the 2012 NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship — With Obama’s Team Picks Handwritten by Him
Stunning 63″ x 36″ leaderboard signed by President Barack Obama, listing his official White House picks for the 2012 NCAA women’s basketball tournament. On 13 March 2012, Obama met with ESPN reporters at the White House to personally fill out the brackets, documented here on the official Presidential leaderboard. Obama writes his picks for the top 16, 8, 4 and 2 teams, and taps Baylor as the winner; Obama’s picks placed him in the 79th percentile according to ESPN. Signed “Barack Obama” at center in black ink. With “Presidential Bracket” and official White House seal to bottom, leaderboard measures 63″ x 36″. In very good to near fine condition, with a nearly indiscernible smudge to the “O” in Obama. Obtained directly from ESPN in its annual V Foundation auction. The 2013 men’s leaderboard sold for $20,206 in our August auction. Sold for $3,896.

Jamaal Wilkes’ NCAA Championship Wristwatch From 1972
NCAA national championship wristwatch won by UCLA forward and NBA Hall of Fame basketball player Jamaal Wilkes in 1972. Led by coaching great John Wooden, UCLA won its sixth straight championship that year with Wilkes anchoring a squad that also included NBA great Bill Walton. Known for his defensive prowess, solid rebounding skills and deadly jump shot, Wilkes won four NBA championship rings in a career that spanned from 1975 to 1984. A member of the famous ”Showtime” Los Angeles Lakers squad of the early 1980’s, Wilkes had his number retired by the Lakers on 28 December 2012, and subsequently by UCLA on 17 January 2013. The Bulova watch features a 10kt gold plated back with a heavy gold electroplate bezel and white face. The brown band is made of turtle leather, and has ”R 11/16” and ”Accutron” stamped to the inside. Watchface reads: ”Accutron / 1972 National Basketball Champion / NCAA”. Accompanied by its original mustard felt display mount. Watchband measures 9” long including buckle, with the face measuring 1.25” in diameter. Near fine. With a COA from Jamaal Wilkes. NCAA championship wristwatch won by UCLA forward and NBA Hall of Fame basketball player Jamaal Wilkes in 1973. Led by coaching great John Wooden, UCLA won its seventh straight championship that year with Wilkes anchoring a squad that also included NBA great Bill Walton. Known for his defensive prowess, solid rebounding skills and deadly jump shot, Wilkes won four NBA championship rings in a career that spanned from 1975 to 1984. A member of the famous ”Showtime” Los Angeles Lakers squad of the early 1980’s, Wilkes had his number retired by the Lakers on 28 December 2012, and subsequently by UCLA on 17 January 2013. Bulova watch features a 10kt gold plated back with a heavy gold electroplate bezel affixed to a brown textured leather band. The watchface reads: ”Accutron / 1973 National Basketball Champion / NCAA”. Watchband measures 9” long including buckle, with the face measuring 1.25” in diameter. 1977-78 Washington Bullets NBA 14kt. gold Championship Ring belonging to Elvin Hayes. 75 point diamond on top of the ring is surrounded by “N. B. A. World Champions”. “Hayes”, “bullets” and “the fat lady sings” appear on one side, with the NBA logo and “1978” appearing on the other. Inside is stamped “Balfour 14K” along with his “E.E.H” initials engraved. Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity signed by Hayes. Obtained directly from Hayes. Sold for $82,500.

The square-shaped ring features a diamond set atop a red back stone with ”Basketball Hall of Fame” engraved to gold surrounding stones. One side has ‘year of his induction, ‘1990” engraved above two basketball players in relief. Opposite side has ”Elvin Hayes” engraved above the Hall of Fame official logo. A member of the famous ”Showtime” Los Angeles Lakers squad of the early 1980’s, Wilkes had his number retired by the team on 28 December 2012. This trophy was presented to Wilkes at the National Basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony on 7 September 2012 in Springfield, Massachusetts. Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame trophy awarded to Chet Walker upon his 7 September 2012 induction. Walker’s niche in the NBA is a distinctive one: the agile forward was named to the first ever all-rookie NBA team and won the 1967 NBA Championship as part of the team widely considered the greatest of all time, the 1967 Philadelphia 76ers. After retiring as an athlete Walker authored an autobiography, “Long Time Coming: A Black Athlete’s Coming-Of-Age in America” and then became a successful producer in Hollywood. Statue features a stylized basketball-textured finial and plaque affixed to the front of the base which reads, “CHET WALKER”. Measures 19.5″ in height with a base diameter of 6.75″. Fine. John Isaacs’ Basketball Hall of Fame Trophy — Isaacs Won the First Ever World Professional Basketball Tournament in 1939
John Isaacs’ Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame trophy awarded to Isaacs upon his 11 September 2015 induction. The professional star won the very first World Professional Basketball Tournament in 1939 playing with the New York Renaissance, and again won a second title with the Washington Bears in 1943 as the lead scorer. Tall award statue features a stylized basketball-textured finial and plaque affixed to the front of the base that reads, “John Isaacs”. Plaque to back reads “Class of 2015” with wording in relief around the base of the trophy reading, “Naismith Memorial / Basketball Hall of Fame / Enshrinee”. Measures 19.5” in height with a base diameter of 7”. Weighs 9 pounds, 7 ounces. Some green patina to base, otherwise near fine condition. With an LOA from John Isaacs’ son. Sold for $18,750.


John Isaacs Basketball Hall of Fame Ring — Legendary Player for the New York Renaissance When They Won the Very First World Professional Basketball Tournament in 1939
John Isaacs’ Hall of Fame ring from the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Isaacs played as a guard for the New York Rens, one of the first black teams in pro basketball. He led them to victory in 1939 at the first ever World Professional Basketball Tournament, where the Rens beat the Oshkosh All-Stars 34-25. Isaacs also played for the Washington Bears, who won the WPBT again in 1943, with Isaacs the lead scorer in that game. Although the Rens were inducted into the Hall of Fame as a team in 1963, Isaacs was named an HOFer in his own right in 2015. Size 13 ring features a central round cut clear diamond, flanked by gold laurel sprigs on a bed of transparent red. On the sides are Isaacs’ name, a vignette of basketball players, the year 2015 and the Hall of Fame logo, underscored by 5 stars. Within is a 10kt gold mark by Jostens. With original Jostens box. Scarce ticket to the first game of Michael Jordan’s NBA career, the opening game of the Chicago Bulls season on 26 October 1984, where the Bulls beat the Washington Bullets 109 to 93, with the impressive rookie scoring the first 16 points of his career. Ticket stub is the more desirable version issued by the Chicago Stadium box office (rather than Ticketmaster), and one of only about 10 first game tickets slabbed by PSA, with only those possessing uncanny intuition able to recognize the historic importance of the game. Ticket has been altered from its inclusion in a scrapbook, but slabbed as authentic by PSA. Sold for $3,781.
